Abstract:
By using sclareol as a substrate, a dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]-furan intermediate is efficiently produced. As a result of intensive studies with the aim of isolating and identifying a microorganism having a characteristic of interest, a plurality of novel microorganisms having the characteristic of interest which are not categorized into conventionally known microorganisms were isolated and identified. The novel microorganism according to the invention belongs to the Ascomycetes and has an ability to produce a dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1,b]-furan intermediate using sclareol as a substrate. The microorganism belonging to the Ascomycetes with such an ability is a new finding and can be a useful microorganism for the production of dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1,b]-furan or an intermediate thereof.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan intermediate from sclareol as a substrate. SOLUTION: A plurality of new microorganisms having objective characteristics and not classified in conventional known microorganisms have been isolated and identified as the result of zealous examinations to isolate and identify microorganisms having objective characteristics. The new microorganisms belong to genus Rhodococcus and have ability to produce the dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan intermediate from the sclareol as the substrate. The microorganisms having the ability and belonging to the genus Rhodococcus are microorganisms useful for producing the dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan and its intermediate. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which is improved in biodegradability and has improved detergency for greasy soils and dirt, by incorporating a non-soap surfactant containing, as a main component, a primary alkyl sulfate salt having an oleyl or elaidyl group as a hydrophobic group and a specific dispersing agent containing a polycarboxylic acid or an analogous compound thereto. SOLUTION: A non-soap surfactant comprising (A) 40 to 100 wt.% of a primary alkyl sulfate salt having an oleyl or elaidyl group as a hydrophobic group which is obtained by sulfating the hydroxyl group of oleyl and/or elaidyl. alcohol and has the formula: CH3 -(CH2 )7 -CH=CH-(CH2 )8 -SO3 M wherein the double bond is a cis or trans bond and M is a cation which affords a soluble salt and (B) a primary saturated alkyl sulfate salt having the formula: ROSO2 M wherein R is a 8-20C saturated alkyl and M is M, and (C) 1 wt.% or more of a dispersing agent comprising a polycarboxylic acid and/or an analogous compound thereto and having a weight average molecular weight of 1,000 or more are compounded in such a way that the weight ratio of component A/ component C is 6/1 to 1/1.
