    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain titled resin effectively carrying on its surface highly reactive functional group without any reduction in its water absorptivity, by crosslinking reaction following impregnation of a carboxyl group-contg. resin of specific water content with reactive functional group-contg. hydrophilic monomer. CONSTITUTION:(A) A carboxyl (or carboxylate) group-contg. highly water-absorptive resin with a water content regulated below 50wt% (pref. to 10-40wt%) is impregnated with (B) a reactive functional group-contg. hydrophilic monomer [pref. (meth)acrylamide] followed by crosslinking using a crosslinking agent (pref. polyglycidyl ether) to coat the surface of said resin. The above resin (A) is preferably an acrylic acid (alkali metal salt) (co)polymer prepared by reversed- phase suspension polymerization of an aqueous solution of carboxyl group, etc.- contg. hydrophilic monomer in the presence of water-soluble initiator. USE:As hygienic materials, antisweating agent, phase-transfer catalyst, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To impart remarkable antistatic effect and excellent durability to a molded article made of a polyester polymer, by etching the article with an alkaline solution, and treating with a specific polyalkylene oxide compound.
    CONSTITUTION: A molded article made of a polyester or a polymer composition containing a polyester is etched with an alkaline solution and then treated with a polyalkylene oxide cmpound containing at least one epoxy group. The polyester is preferably the one containing 5-alkali metal sulfoisophthalate component or polyalkylene oxide component as a copolymerized component. A molded article of a polymer having polyester and tertiary amine structure is also preferable. The molded article is preferably fiber or film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:In polymerizing an aqueous solution of a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer, to obtain a water-absorbing material useful as a water- retaining agent for agriculture, sanitary material, etc., having improved water- absorbing rate for a salt solution or the blood, by adding a surface active agent to the polymerization system during polymerization or after polymerization.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, having improved salt resistance and high water absorption rate, and useful for sanitary materials, etc., by dispersing or suspending an aqueous solution containing a carboxyl group-containing monomer in a hydrocarbon, etc. in the presence of an oil-soluble cellulose ester, etc., polymerizing the monomer, adjusting the water content, and crosslinking the resultant polymer. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a carboxyl group-containing water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer, e.g. acrylic acid, is dispersed or suspended in a hydrocarbon, e.g. cyclohexane, or a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon, and polymerized. In the process, a cellulose ester, e.g. cellulose acetate, or cellulose ether, e.g. ethyl cellulose, which is soluble in oil at the polymerization temperature is used as a protective colloid, and the water content is adjusted to 10-40wt% after the polymerization. The resultant polymer is then crosslinked with a crosslinking agent, e.g. ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, having two or more functional groups reactive with carboxyl groups or carboxylate groups to give the aimed polymer.
