    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain novel patchouli oil for fragrant granules containing novel fragrance component by drying leaf or stalk of variety of patchouli and subjecting to steam distillation or extraction with organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:Excellent variety of patchouli is selected, then stalk and leaf part of said stock is cut and bred by cutting method, then cultured for 3-5 month, thus ripened leaf or stalk is harvested and dried, then subjected to steam distillation or extraction with organic solvent to afford patchouli oil having novel component detected by gas chromatography analysis.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently regenerate a coconut palm plant body without readily germinating under natural conditions so as to enable the storage in a state of an embryo of a coconut palm genetic source and facilitate the international handling, etc., by culturing a zygotic embryo separated from a coconut palm seed under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A zygotic embryo separated from a coconut palm seed such as Makapuno species is cultured in a liquid culture medium to germinate a main root, which is then pruned and cultured in a solid culture medium while strengthening the lighting according to the growth of the embryo to regenerate the coconut palm plant body.
