Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent with improved in detergency for stains left on dishes by compounding as essential components an alkaline metal hydroxide and glutamic acid diacetate or a salt thereof each in a specific amount. SOLUTION: There are compounded, as essential components, 3-60 wt.% of an alkaline metal hydroxide (A) and 1-50 wt.% of glutamic acid diacetate or a salt thereof (B) of the formula. In the formula, M represents H, Na, K or NH4 . As the component A is preferable sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. This detergent exhibits excellent deterging power regardless of its form when used, that is, whether it is used as a liquid detergent, a powdery detergent or a solid detergent. When the detergent is used as a powdery or solid detergent, the component A used can be in the form of powder, granules, flakes or pellets. The component B exhibits more improved deterging effect when partially neutralized but exhibits sufficient improvement in deterging power even when perfectly neutralized.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent excellent in the long-term storage stability in the form of a powder and capable of preventing the concentration of its aqueous solution from being reduced after preparation of the solution and of preventing the cationic germicide from being degraded by blending sodium percarbonate or sodium perborate, a cationic germicide and a serine-N,N- diacetate salt in specific proportions. SOLUTION: In 100 pts.wt. of sodium percarbonate or sodium perborate (A), are incorporated 0.5-100 pts.wt. of a cationic germicide (B) and 0.05-100 pts.wt. of a serine-N,N-diacetate salt (C) represented by the formula (wherein M is H, Na, K or NH4 ). The component B may include cationic surfactant-base germicides, biguanide-base germicides, and amino acid-base surfactants. In addition, the composition may preferably contain an alkaline inorganic metal salt (D) and further a surfactant, particularly a nonionic surfactant (E). Usually, 10-800 pts.wt. of component D and 0.5-100 pts.wt. of component E are incorporated based on 100 pts.wt. of component A.

Besides, iron powder, ferrous ion, ferric ion, iron-containing protein (hemoglobin, myoglobin or catalase, etc.) or threoniniron, etc., is exemplified as the iron-containing substance.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing material which is used for the disposal treatment of pollutants such as bloods, excrements and vegetable juices, gives a sure sterilization effect by a simple treatment, and has excellent safety and workability. SOLUTION: This water-absorbing material comprises a composition containing (A) a water-absorbing polymer (for example, polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer) and (B) a chlorine-based bleaching agent (for example, dichlroisocyanuric acid) in a (A)/(B) weight ratio of 1 to 100. The composition used as the water-absorbing material may further be compounded with (C) a thickener. The thickener includes carboxymethylcellulose(CMC), ground pulp, thermal mechanical pulp and polyethylene glycol. The thickener C is preferably used in a (A)/(C) weight ratio of 5 to 50, especially 10 to 30.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a bitter taste-reducing agent having an excellent bitter taste-reducing effect on a medicine, a food, a cosmetic, etc., excellent in safety and capable of being admixed with a food, etc., without changing the taste essential to the food. CONSTITUTION:This bitter taste-reducing agent is composed of a composite material containing a phospholipid and a water-soluble saccharide, preferably a sugar alcohol such as D-mannitol or a disaccharide such as lactose or sucrose. The phospholipid contains preferably >=20wt.%, especially preferably >=50wt.% acidic phospholipid containing >=50wt.%, especially >=70wt.% phosphatidic acid. This composite material can be prepared by blending a phospholipid, a water-soluble saccharide and water, emulsifying the resultant mixture and drying the resultant emulsion or by dissolving or dispersing a phospholipid in an organic solvent, adding a water-soluble saccharide thereto, mixing them with stirring and drying the resultant mixture. The volume-average particle size is preferably 0.05 to 10mum, especially 0.3 to 1mum in an aqueous dispersion state.

SOLUTION: A polyoxyethylene monoalkyl ether of formula I (wherein R is a 1-24C alkyl; EO is oxyethylene; and n is 8-30) is reacted with a carbonyl compd. of formula II (wherein R and R are each H or a 1-17C alkyl provided the sum of the numbers of carbon atoms of R and R is 5-17) or, when the carbonyl compd. is an aldehyde, with an aldehyde polymer, in a hydrogen atmosphere (under a hydrogen pressure of 1-250 kg/cm ) in the presence of a catalyst (a palladium catalyst carried by a carbon powder) at 10-200 deg.C for 3-25 hr to give a foam inhibitor comprising a polyoxyethylene dialkyl ether of formula III (wherein R , EO, and n are each the same as in formula I; and R is a 6-18C alkyl).
