The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting digital broadcasting signals and a method and apparatus for receiving digital broadcasting signals that divide a stream into a plurality of layers according to characteristics of the stream, that independently process the layers, and that dynamically allocate frequencies on the basis of the processed signals. A method of transmitting digital broadcasting signals includes dividing a single stream into a plurality of layers according to characteristics of the stream; performing encoding and mapping on each of the layers; and dynamically allocating a frequency to each of the layers on the basis of the number of symbols for each layer.

Disclosed is a channel estimation and equalization method and system. The method inserts a pilot signal in the time domain into a guard interval, uses a hard decision signal in the frequency domain to estimate a frequency response of the channel, and equalizes a radio channel distortion through the estimated channel value.

The present invention relates to a transmission method, a transmission apparatus, a reception method, and a reception apparatus of a digital broadcasting signal that can add frame header information to a front portion of a transmission frame in a transmission system for digital broadcasting to thereby determine a different transmission mode, modulation level, hierarchical modulation, error correction code, and the like for each temporally different transmission frame, and a transmission frame structure thereof. The transmission frame structure includes a frame header containing multiplexing information of the transmission frame, and a frame body containing data information associated with a service provided by the transmission frame. Also, the frame header may include a frame synchronization signal unit including synchronization signal information for extracting a start position of the transmission frame and a frame information unit including multiplexing information of data contained in the transmission frame. The multiplexing information denotes information associated with a transmission mode, a modulation level, a hierarchical modulation, and an error correction code of the data contained in the transmission frame.

The terrestrial digital broadcasting transmitter may include a Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder to RS-encode an inputted broadcast signal, a forward error correction (FEC) encoder to channel-encode an inputted additional signal associated with the broadcast signal, a selector to select the RS-encoded broadcast signal or the channel-encoded additional signal, and a vestigial side band (VSB) transmitting part to transmit, to a receiver via a transmitting antenna, the selected signal, the selected signal being the RS-encoded broadcast signal or the channel-encoded additional signal selected by the selector.

The present invention relates to an on-channel repeating apparatus and method. An embodiment of the present invention provides an on-channel repeating method including: subtracting a replica of a feedback signal from a signal received from a main transmitter or another repeating apparatus; demodulating and equalizing the signal to remove noise, a multipath signal, and the remaining feedback signal from the signal; inserting identification signal having good correlation properties into the signal; modulating the signal; and transmitting the modulated signal. Another embodiment of the present invention provides an on-channel repeating apparatus including: a unit that converts signals received from a main transmitter or another repeating apparatus into signals in a predetermined band; a unit that generates identification signals having good correlation properties; a unit that generates a replica from the signals in the predetermined band and the identification signal, and then removes a feedback signal; a unit that demodulates a signal from which the feedback signal is removed; a unit that equalizes the demodulated signal to remove noise, a multipath signal, and the remaining feedback signal therefrom; a unit that inserts the identification signal into the equalized signal; and a unit that modulates the signal having the identification signal inserted thereinto and transmits the modulated signal. According to the present invention, the repeating apparatus repeats output signals that have a small time delay and whose distortion is corrected. Therefore, it is possible to improve the utilization of limited frequency sources, and reduce investment in achieving a repeating apparatus.

Es wird ein LDPC-Code (Paritätsprüfungscode niedriger Dichte) für terrestrischen Cloud-Rundfunk geschaffen. Ein Verfahren zum Codieren eingegebener Informationen auf der Grundlage einer LDPC (Paritätsprüfung niedriger Dichte) enthält das Empfangen von Information und das Codieren der eingegebenen Informationen mit einem LDPC-Codewort unter Verwendung einer Paritätsprüfungsmatrix, wobei die Paritätsprüfungsmatrix eine Struktur aufweisen kann, die durch Kombinieren einer ersten Paritätsprüfungsmatrix für einen LDPC-Code mit einer höheren Coderate als ein Referenzwert mit einer zweiten Paritätsprüfungsmatrix für einen LDPC-Code mit einer niedrigeren Coderate als der Referenzwert erhalten wird.
