    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, method, and system by which a default mode is provided about an authentication failure on a mobile communication network, particularly, a specific type of authentication failure including an authentication information updating failure can be detected and informed to a subscriber and, at the same time, can be corrected. SOLUTION: Representatively, the method is used for providing a default mode about an authentication failure on a mobile communication network accessed from a mobile unit through a call leg. The method includes a step of performing an authenticating procedure. When the authenticating procedure is failed, the communication session to the mobile unit is terminated by refusing the request from the mobile unit for performing access to a network and the announcement on the call leg is provided to the mobile unit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inter-system handoffs between an existing circuit wireless system and a packet system by an improved wireless network. SOLUTION: A packet wireless system is enhanced so as to provide translation between a circuit call model and a packet call model. A media gateway translates bearer traffic between formats used in each system. The media gateway, a media gateway control function and an associated call state control function cooperate to emulate the behavior of the circuit wireless system, so that when interoperating with a conventional circuit wireless system, the packet system appears to be another circuit wireless system. When necessary, the media gateway, the media gateway control function and the call state control function are more cooperated with each other in order to emulate the function of an anchor MSC of the circuit wireless.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for resetting an interrupted call from a mobile unit. SOLUTION: This invention provides a method for resetting a call in a communication system and a mobile unit switching center(MSC). The MSC receives a loopback call request from a network element so as to reset a call such as an emergency call between the network element and a mobile unit. The loopback request has a loopback number. The MSC decides whether the loopback number can be used for warning a mobile unit. When the loopback number cannot warn the mobile unit, the MSC decides an identification number of the mobile unit. Then the MSC uses the identification number of the mobile unit to warn the mobile unit and resets a call between the mobile unit and the network element on an initial call path.

    Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are disclosed for providing a default mode for authentication failures in a mobile telecommunication network. The system includes an authentication center (typically co-located within a home locati on register), an adjunct network entity, and an originating mobile switching center. The home location register generally stores information pertaining to a mobile unit, such as a cellular or PCS mobile telephone. The adjunct network entity contains one or more application nodes, such as an announcement application node for providing an announcement on a call leg to the mobile unit. When the network has been accessed by a mobile unit through a call leg, the originating mobile switching center is configured to perform an authentication procedure. The originating mobile switching center further is configured, when the authentication procedure has resulted in an authentication failure, to receive a message from the authentication center to deny the mobile unit access to the network, to terminate a communication session with the mobile unit, and to route the call leg to the announcement application node for the provision of an announcemen t on the call leg to the mobile unit. Following such an announcement, the originating switching center is also configured to route the call leg to a customer service center , for example, to reprogram the mobile unit.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and Mobile Switching Center (MSC) for re-establishing a call in a communication system. The MSC receives from a network element a callback request to re-establish a call, such as an emergency call, between the network element and a mobile unit. The callback request includes a callback number. The MSC determines whether the callback number can be used to alert the mobile unit. If the callback number cannot be used to alert the mobile unit, the MSC determines an identification number of the mobile unit. The MSC then alerts the mobile unit by utilizing the identification number of the mobile unit and re- establishes the call on the original call path between the mobile unit and the network element.
