    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for resetting an interrupted call from a mobile unit. SOLUTION: This invention provides a method for resetting a call in a communication system and a mobile unit switching center(MSC). The MSC receives a loopback call request from a network element so as to reset a call such as an emergency call between the network element and a mobile unit. The loopback request has a loopback number. The MSC decides whether the loopback number can be used for warning a mobile unit. When the loopback number cannot warn the mobile unit, the MSC decides an identification number of the mobile unit. Then the MSC uses the identification number of the mobile unit to warn the mobile unit and resets a call between the mobile unit and the network element on an initial call path.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically restarting a call, in a communication system and to provide a mobile switching center(MSC). SOLUTION: A call is set up on a call path between a mobile unit of a communication system and a network element. A processor, such as a mobile switching center(MSC) discriminates that the call is being disconnected from the mobile unit. When the processor discriminates that the mobile unit has been disconnected from the call, the call is restarted automatically on the call path. The call is preferably restarted on the call path between the MSC and the network element and moreover with no input from the mobile unit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communications system where a service provider measures the radiation pattern of a base station antenna and automatically re-adjusts the radiation pattern by taking non-uniformity of an RF characteristic into account. SOLUTION: Measured values are collected and performance metric is derived from the measured values and analyzed in order to control an adjustable base station antenna. As examples of the adjustable base station antennas, a linear array antenna or a narrow beam antenna can be cited. The performance metric is derived from the measured values relating to sub-sectors in a sector of a service base station antenna. In order to conduct the correlation above, an approximate position of a mobile subscriber unit is decided from a measured time. A control signal sent to the adjustable base station antenna is calculated so that the performance metrics of sub sectors can be enhanced within a limitation to limit deterioration in the performance metric of the sub-sectors.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal access leading to a service function to a radio communication service subscriber even when radio communication service is served anywhere. SOLUTION: A gateway exchange is maintained by a radio communication service provider (local provider) not maintaining a radio interface system. When a mobile subscriber of a local provider makes a call, a mobile exchange center serving an area where the subscriber is resident at present is accessed. The mobile exchange center uses dial information to identify a mobile terminal equipment to subscribe to the service of the local provider and informs registration to the gateway exchange via a signal link. Then trunk connection is set up between the mobile exchange center and the gateway exchange. The mobile exchange center acts like a radio interface to allow the local provider to set up call connection and to provide the service function.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and Mobile Switching Center (MSC) for re-establishing a call in a communication system. The MSC receives from a network element a callback request to re-establish a call, such as an emergency call, between the network element and a mobile unit. The callback request includes a callback number. The MSC determines whether the callback number can be used to alert the mobile unit. If the callback number cannot be used to alert the mobile unit, the MSC determines an identification number of the mobile unit. The MSC then alerts the mobile unit by utilizing the identification number of the mobile unit and re- establishes the call on the original call path between the mobile unit and the network element.

A call is established on a call path in a communication system between a mobile unit and a network element. A processor, such as a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), determines that the mobile unit has disconnected from the call. The processor automatically re-establishes the call on the call path if it was determined that the mobile unit disconnected from the call. The re-establishment of the call preferably occurs on the call path between the MSC and the network element, and occurs without input from the mobile unit.
