    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antenna array used for communication of both up-link and down-link in a radio communication system like a cellular. SOLUTION: In a cellular base station including a receiver 95, a transmitter 100 m and a log period antenna array 105, an up-link (for reception) sub-array consists of antenna elements A2 to AM. The output of each of these elements is the input to the receiver 95. In this case, outputs are multiplied by weight coefficients W2 to WM on the outside of the receiver 95. A down-link (for transmission) sub-array consists of antenna elements A1 to AM-1. The transmitter 100 sends a modulated carrier signal to each element. Inputs of antenna elements A1 to AM-1 are multiplied by weight coefficients W'1 to W'M-1 on the outside of the transmitter 100. Thus, the log period antenna array 105 consisting of antenna elements A1 to AM is shared between transmission and reception.

In such a manner, while only two pieces of spreading codes are used, the two codes are used for a data symbol to the user (20.1) and also the two codes are used for the data symbol to the user (20.2) as well. Thus, at the time of using plural transmitter antennas, a system for sufficiently achieving the diversity merits without receiving the demerits in the number of the codes required to be allocated per user so much, is realized.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an approach on the basis of a principle to a spatiotemporal signal constellation design that can further sufficiently accomplish a logical advantage of a high data rate and a low error probability.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generalize a differential phase modulation system for the purpose of employing the system for an optional number of antennas. SOLUTION: A plurality of base band signals is generated, each base band signal has one or more temporal complex sequence, and respective antennas 15 of a multiplex transmitter antenna array transmit each sequence.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease error rate and to increase data rate by actualizing such a communication method that the amplitude of a base band signal represents antennas that respective columns constitute, respective rows are represented as a matrix showing individual time intervals, and the matrix is proportional to a matrix whose columns are orthogonal. SOLUTION: Respective transmit signals are sets of M vectors in a temporal viewpoint, have length T, and accompany transmitting antennas.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance cost-effectiveness and to simply realize high bit rate by transmitting a virtual transmitting signal through the partial aggregation of a virtual sub-channel by using propagation information. SOLUTION: A first unit 12 transmits a diagonal matrix D to a channel encoder/modulator 24 in transmission from the first unit 12 to the second unit 14 so as to encode and modulate an information stream from a data source 28. The channel encoder/modulator 211 encodes and modulate the information stream, forms plural sub-information streams which differ in accordance with the non-zero value of the diagonal matrix D and generates a virtual transmitting signal. The virtual transmitting signal is expressed as a vector and its respective configuration components are transmitted by the respective virtual sub-channels. Moreover, a unitary conversion block 30 executes the unitary conversion of the virtual transmitting signal by multiplexing the virtual transmitting signal through the use of the conjugate transposition of a unitary matrix ϕ. Finally, the first unit 12 utilizes the result of unitary conversion 30 so as to generate the base band version of the actual transmitting signal.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a modulation method for wireless signal transmission. Each message that is transmitted is made up of a sequence of signals, each selected from a constellation of L such signals, L a positive integer. Each transmitted signal is distributed spatially across a transmitting antenna array, and is also distributed in time. Thus, each signal may be represented as a TxM matrix, in which each of the M columns represents a distinct antenna of the array, and each of the T rows represents a distinct time interval. Each entry in this matrix represents a complex baseband voltage amplitude. Each of these signal matrices is proportional to a matrix having orthonormal columns.
