Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the coupling of corresponding components by adjusting both or independently one of a relative phase and/or amplitude between signal components and a relative phase and/or amplitude of distortion components. SOLUTION: The signal amplifier system (50) has a first and second amplifier paths (52, 54) for carrying duplicates of signal components. On the first amplifier path, a first amplifier amplifies the signal components to generate distortion components. Duplicates of the amplified signal components and distortion are given to a coupling path (58). On the coupling path, the amplitude and/or phase of the distortion components are/is adjusted without adjusting corresponding to the phase and/or amplitude of the signal components, after canceling the signal components to separate the distortion components. The adjusted distortion components are coupled with a second path where a second amplifier amplifies the signal components and the adjusted distortion components.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a continuous automation control mechanism for improving inexact prediction caused by nonuniform gain, intermodulation distortion(IMD) performance or temperature response of a low distortion high frequency amplifier and to attain an integrated onboard control mechanism, capable of performing control at the job site during normal operation of the amplifier. SOLUTION: A low distortion amplifier 100 is integrated with an optimization circuit for executing automation control of the amplifier 100. The optimization circuit has an extraction circuit 101 designed so as to extract various signals indicating operations of the amplifier under present operating conditions. A control circuit 200 to use information received from the extracting circuit 101 determines suitable control setting of a main component in the amplifier 100, corresponding to the present operating conditions. The optimization circuit guarantees that the output of the amplifier has a desired signal level, while guaranteeing that the IMD of output is minimized or removed under all the operating conditions.
