Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the full band pass optical filter that reduces dispersion of transmitted optical pulses. SOLUTION: This full band pass optical filter reduces dispersion of optical pulses 120 that are transmitted through the filter. The filter applies a desired phase response to the optical pulses that are transmitted through the filter to reduce the dispersion of the optical pulses. The filter has also a frequency independent amplitude response and has a structure that includes at least one feedback path 145, a splitter/combiner 143, an input port and an output port.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system, provided with simultaneous wavelength locking and spectrum filtering. SOLUTION: This optical communication system is provided with a light source 10, provided with a semiconductor laser whose wavelength is locked by a spectrum selection element 14, and output is simultaneously filtered by the same spectrum selecting element 14. Thus, light source output suitable for the longer distance transmission, and the higher speed transmission is obtained. In an example execution form, a fiber Bragg grating is used as a simultaneous selective element and the reduction of chirps, an increased quenching ratio and heat insulation wavelength stability within 2 ppm are obtained.

Abstract: An all-pass optical filter which reduces the dispersion of optical pulses transmitted therethrough is disclosed. The all-pass optical filter reduces the dispersion of optical pulses by applying a desired phase response to optical pulses transmitted therethrough. The all-pass optical filter also has a frequency independent amplitude response. The all-pass optical filter has a structure which includes at least one feedback path, a splitter/combiner, an input port, and an output port.
