    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracing system for a jumper cable containing both optical fibers and electrical wires. SOLUTION: Conventional problems are solved by a system composed of optical receptacles, which are mounted on a pair of patch panels and which contain metallic conductors, and jumper cables which contain optical fibers and electrical wires terminating in a plug connector at each end and which are connected to the optical receptacles by the plug connectors. Each patch panel includes manually operated switches and electrical circuitry containing a light emitting device, with each circuit electrically connected to a metallic conductor inside the optical receptacle on each patch panel. If the switch on one patch panel is in the active state, a voltage in the metallic conductor is applied, making the light emitting device give off light in the corresponding receptacle on the other patch panel. If the switch is in the normal state, the light emitting device gives off no light.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jack receptacle for receiving a plug connector, including both optical and electrical transmission media, and provide a tracing system of cables. SOLUTION: A hybrid plug connector retains an optical fiber terminal end in an insulator housing structure. A cantilever latch is formed at the upper face of the housing structure and is designed to mutually lock with joining jack receptacles. An electrical conductor supporting device is formed at a bottom of housing, and retains several insulated electrical conductors, and metal blades to penetrate insulators and to connect with the electrical conductors. The jack receptacle includes a column of wire springs in an inlet of an optical connecting part of the receptacle, and the wire springs extend to the opposite side of the receptacle and are connected electrically with a pair of hybrid plug connectors. Also, the wire springs are arranged, so as to conform to printed circuit, and electrically connected with electrical circuit parts over there.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an optical cable tracing system using a hybrid cable containing both optical and electrical transmission media. SOLUTION: A plug connector used in the hybrid cable which provides high bandwidth with optical fibers and provides the accuracy of connection with an electrical wire contains an insulator housing, and the housing surrounds the optical fiber. A cantilever latch is fixed at the upper part of the housing, engages with a mating jack receptacle and is locked. An electrical conductor supporting device is formed at the bottom of the housing and supports a number of insulated electrical conductors and metallic blade terminals which pierce the insulator and make electrical contact with respective electrical conductors. By a row of wire springs which are disposed at an interval at the entrance of the optical connection part of the mating jack receptacles, the electrical interconnection between a pair of hybrid plug connectors and between the electrical circuit parts on the printed wiring board are provided.

SOLUTION: Optical devices are arranged along the side end (311) of the board (310) and adjusted so as to be connectable mutually to the same number of optical connectors (200) that are arrayed longitudinally or laterally on the back plane. Each optical plug is held on a holder (120), which is retained on the back plane (100) with a clip (110). Each optical connector is a plug including a ferrule (24), which seals in an optical fiber and which projects from one end of the plug. Each end-mounting optical device contains a jack receptacle (410 and 510) at the front end, possessing a cavity (401 and 501) formed for accepting the optical plug. The jack receptacles are all similarly shaped. Each cavity also contains a boss (421 and 521) for receiving the ferrule. The plugs and the jack receptacles are arranged in the manner that they are engaged and not connected with each other.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize connection with less optical loss by tunning with a connector, in the case of inconsistency on the X, Y and Z axes in a connecting adaptor, in an optical fiber connector to be connected to a back plane/wall. SOLUTION: With the connector end tapered, the inconsistency on the X and Y axes is corrected. Also, by shortening the tip end part, a ferrule is projected beyond the optical plane, dealing with the inconsistency on the Z axis. Further, by attaching a spring part, a ferrule length inside the adaptor is adjustable. Furthermore, a large diameter part is made in barrel assembly to be stored in the housing and a recess is mad in the axis hole of a housing, thereby preventing rotation of the assembly in insertion. Thus, it is possible to connect with the adaptor while optical loss is suppressed.

SOLUTION: This connector 10 is provided with an integrated housing 20, a ferrule assembly 11 and an insert 24. The insert is provided with a key 31 paired with key grooves 32 formed in the housing. The housing is provided with a first opening receiving the ferrule assembly, and next the insert and a second opening facing the first opening. The end part of the ferrule assembly is protruded, passing through the second opening. The insert is provided with a flange 25 having two flat surfaces which are arranged oppositely and two keys which are arranged oppositely. A nearly rectangular cross section is imparted to the flange by the key and the flat surfaces 33 of the flange. When the insert is inserted into a first end of the housing, the key of the flange is lined up with the key grooves of the housing. When the insert is inserted into the housing, the insert is locked to a prescribed position within the housing by the key and the key grooves.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a connector possible to be easily installed or mounted without using epoxy or an adhesive by constituting the connector in such a manner that a pin is set at a direction orthogonal to the axis regulated by a slug and that the pin fits to the slug when the pin exists nearly flush with a casing. SOLUTION: The end of the slug 82 is chamfered at a place where an optical fiber is received from a barrel extension part 66 to facilitate the entry of the fiber to a passage 84. Similarly, the end of the ferrule 64 is chamfered in the joint part to the slug 82 to assist the guidance of the fiber into the aperture of the passage. The opening 88 extends through the barrel 78 to enable the pins 72-72 to be fitted to the slug 82 in line with the opening of the casing 62 holding the pins 72-72. The rapid and simple installation of the quick connection optical fiber connector 60 on site is made possible without using the adhesive or the epoxy by the unique operation of the pin 72 and the slug 82 according to such constitution.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjustable connector adaptor for optical fibers. SOLUTION: The adjustable adaptor is capable of making adjustment for the purpose of connecting an optical fiber connector to other device. The adjustable adaptor includes a housing, in which a disk member is arranged. The disk member is equipped with a connector receiving jack, the axis of which is surrounded with the array of positioning members. Further, in the housing, a movable wall member is arranged, which has a connector receiving jack extending from the member, with the axis of the jack surrounded with the array of positioning members for meshing with the positioning members of a fixed disk member. The movable wall member is biased towards the disk member so that the two positioning members are engaged with each other in the normal operation. With the movable wall member pulled to the nearer side so as to make it disengaged, it becomes rotatable, thereby making the adaptor adjustable in the manner that the eccentric vectors of two connectors are roughly matched to each other.
