Abstract: 1285512 Luminescent screens MATSUSHITA ELECTRONICS CORP 11 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969 (2)] 43603/70 Heading H1D In manufacturing a screen for a colour television tube of the type comprising a pattern of phosphors with interspersed opaque areas, the latter are deposited by an electro-photographic process. In one method the opaque areas are deposited before the phosphor areas using a transparent photo-conductive plate which is charged positively and then mounted between a shadow mask and a faceplate. The plate is exposed through the shadow mask simultaneously or sequentially from three point sources of light so that it is discharged in areas which correspond to positions of the phosphor dots, and after removal from the faceplate the sensitive plate is developed in known manner using as a toner a negatively charged black powder of graphite or manganese dioxide with a resin coated thereon. The sensitive plate is again mounted adjacent the faceplate and the resincoated black particles are transferred to the faceplate by applying a positive charge to the sensitive plate. Thereafter the faceplate is heated so that the resin melts and secures the powder; the phosphor dots are deposited by known photo-resist processes and subsequently the resin is vapourized and removed by heating carried out after the formation of the metal backing. In an alternative process the phosphor dots are deposited on the faceplate and a positively charged photoconductive plate is mounted within the faseplate on the shadow mask supports and exposed to light through the faceplate. The sensitive plate is developed by an inversion process, positively charged dark particles being made to stick to the exposed areas, and these particles are then transferred to the faceplate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve the high resolution and the energy saving, by employing 7-8% of light reflection factor viewed from the outer face of the bulb front face wall thereby achieving the easy-to-see data display with reduced operation beam current. CONSTITUTION:The drawing shows an enlarged partial cross-section of the bulb front face wall of a color picture tube, and when an external light is projected to a front face wall 1 a portion of it will be reflected at the outer face to produce a reflected light 6. The remaining portion will pass through said wall 1 then partially reflected at the inner face to produce a reflected light 7. The reflected light 6 at the outer face of said wall 1 is approximately 4% of the external light 5 and constant, but the reflected light 7 at the inner face is determined by the light permeability of said wall 1 and the condition of a phosphor face 2, and it will decrease as the ratio of a light absorption matrix layer 3 against the phosphor face 2 will increase. The optimal beam current is minimized at 7-8% of the reflection factor.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable an optical fiber for exposure adjustment used in forming the luminous screen of a color picture tube to be readily produced without laborious adjustment by specifying the shape of a vapor deposition mask and the set position of said mask and a heating wire. CONSTITUTION:A vapor deposition mask 23 which has a specified opening part 24 is installed between a light transmittable vapor deposition substrate 21 which becomes an optical filter and a heating source 22 which becomes a vapor source. The center 0s of the wire 22 and the center 0m of the opening part 24 are not on the axial line running the center 0 of the rotating substrate 21 and are positioned outward than the position where the transmittance of the optical filter becomes lowest, i.e., the effective diameteral portion of the substrate 21. The installation direction of the wire 22 aligns to the x-x' axis direction of the substrate 21. The maximum diameter 25 of the half shaped part of the vapor source positions near the center 0. Hence, the vapor deposition film thickness on the substrate 21 becomes thickest in the vicinity on the 0s-0m line and gradually decreases toward the center. The transmittance is high in the central part and gradually decreases as it spreads to the peripheral part.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the fluorescent screen in which the fluorescent dot never swell out to the adjacent dots by using the negative and positive sensitive resin. CONSTITUTION:Light absorbing film 11 is formed on the surface of face plate 12 with the fixed opening window provided, and the negative (13) and positive (14) photo resist containing the green fluorescent substance are coated on the surface. Then the shadow mask is coated to have an exposure via the light source at the position equivalent to the deflection center of the green. The exposure sensitizes film 14 at first, and then film 13 is exposed. The unexposed areas are removed for film 13 as well as entire film 14. In this way, the full shadow part of the exposed part of the negative resist features the same diameter as the conventional one, and the half-shadow part becomes smaller than conventional each. As a result, the fluorescent dot on the fluorescent screen never swells out to the adjacent dots with no dot lack.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a light absorbing film which features a reduced diameter of the half-shadow part without changing diameter dmin of the real-shadow part by means of the negative and positive resist films. CONSTITUTION:Negative and positive photo resist 12 and 13 are laminated onto face panel 11, with the sensitive exposure volume 5 and 10 for film 13 and 12 respectively. Owing to existence of film 13, the exposure time is set to 1.5a to obtain the exposure volume (equivalent to dmin) of film 12. With this prolongation of the time, the sensitive time is increased at the falf-shadow part for film 13. The exposure volume of film 12 increases at time (a), and the area equivalent to 3.3 of the conventional area becomes the part where the exposure volume ''0'' with dmin decided. In this way, the light at the half-shadow part is consumed by film 13 for film 12 even with the piling irradiation of the light, thus deceasing the substantial irradiation area. Positive film 13 is removed later along with unsensed film 12, so no trouble occurs to the exposure of film 12 even though the entire surface is exposed.
