Abstract: The present invention relates to an electric power unit with a condenser input type rectification circuit which converts an alternating current power source to a direct current voltage, and more particularly, to an electric power unit for inverter-controlled refrigerators. An electric power unit according to the present invention feeds electric power to a load (7), which comprises an alternating current power source (1), a bridge-type rectification circuit (2) having an input from the alternating current power source (1) and consisting of bridge-connected diodes (D1, D2, D3, D4), an auxiliary capacitor (3) connected in parallel to an output of the bridge-type rectification circuit (2), a series circuit of a reactor (4) and a diode (5) connected between one output of the bridge-type rectification circuit (2) and the load (7) so as to flow a load current in a forward direction, and a smoothing capacitor (6) connected in parallel to the load (7). Moreover, the reactor (4) is constituted of a first reactor (42) and a second reactor (43), a capacity of which is made variable through controlling of a parallel connection of the second reactor (43) to the first reactor (42) by a switching means (44) in accordance with a change of a current running in the first reactor (42) or a change of an environment where the first reactor (42) is used.

Abstract: A power unit for supplying power to the inverter power supply 45 for the compressor motor 46 of a refrigerator includes an AC power source 1, a bridge rectifier circuit 2 with diodes D1, D2, D3 and D4, an auxiliary capacitor 3 connected in parallel with the output of the rectifier, a serial circuit of a variable inductance 42, 43 and a diode 5 connected between one output of the rectifier and the inverter 45 so that a load current can flow in the forward direction, and a smoothing capacitor 6 connected in parallel with the inverter. The variable inductance includes a first inductance 42 and a second inductance 43, and the inductance can be changed by means of a switch 44 activated by the controller 47. The capacitance of the smoothing capacitor is about 100 times the capacitance of the auxiliary capacitor 3, which serves for the suppression of higher order harmonics during the operation of the power unit.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower starting torque in a starting time by providing a controller always opening a discharge valve in a starting time. SOLUTION: A tip part 20a of an electromagnet 20 is opposed to a discharge lead 7 via a spring lead 22 and a stopper 23 so as to be fixed in a cylinder head 15. In a starting time, a compressor start detecting means detects a start, of a compressor so as to give an excitation command for a timer which energizes the electromagnet 20 for a set time set around a time required for bringing the compressor to the steady number of revolutions. Then, the electromagnet 20 is magnetized by means of excitation based on the timer, and by means of the magnetic force from the tip part 20a, the discharge lead 7 is forcibly opened, and then, a discharge valve 5 is set in a normally-open condition. Under this condition, coolant is hardly compressed even if a piston 3 is advanced and set in a compression stroke. After a lapse of the set time, the timer stops excitation to the electromagnet 20 so as to release magnetization in the electromagnet 20, so that the discharge valve 5 is returned to a normal condition.

SOLUTION: A compressor is provided with a suction valve 11 which has a suction lead 14 in which a magnet 20 is fixed to a surface corresponding to a suction hole 12; an electromagnet 21 which has a leading end directed to the suction lead 14 at the position opposed to the suction lead 14 through the suction hole 12 and the suction hole 12; and an under-operation current carrying voltage control device which carries current to the electromagnet 21 during operation and adjusts the voltage. It is thus possible to adjust lifting up of the suction lead 14 and control a passage amount of coolant.
