    Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus equipped with a first and second supporting frames (102, 104) connected to each other for relative pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The first supporting frame (102) has provided therein a rotatably mounted interlocking input gear (336) and a first power transmission system (310) drivingly connected to the interlocking input gear (336). The second supporting frame (104) has provided therein a drive source (308), a second power transmission system (312) drivingly connected to the drive source (308) and a rotatably mounted interlocking output gear (332) drivingly connected to the drive source (308). A pivot member (378) mounted pivotally about the axis of rotation of the interlocking input gear (336) or the interlocking output gear (332) and elastically held at a predetermined angular position by a spring means is provided in the first or second supporting frame. An interlocking linking gear (334) is rotatably mounted on the pivot member (378). The interlocking linking gear (334) is drivingly connected to the interlocking input gear (336) or the interlocking output gear (332) rotatable over a slight angular range. When the first and second supporting frames (102. 104) are relatively pivoted and brought to the closed position, the interlocking linking gear (334) comes into engagement with the interlocking output (332) or input gear (336).

    Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus comprising a rotating endless photosensitive material (12), an image-forming means (26) for forming an image on the photosensitive material, a conveying means (46) for conveying through a predetermined passage (56) a copying sheet to which the image formed on the photosensitive material (12) is to be transferred, and a cleaning means (18) for cleaning the photosensitive material after image transfer. In the performance of one copying cycle, the image formation is completed before the photosensitive material has rotated through one turn from the starting of image formation, but the photosensitive material (12) is further kept in rotation for cleaning. When a plurality of copying cycles are performed successively, the starting point of image formation in the next copying cycle is selectively set on the basis of the length in the conveying direction of the copying sheet conveyed through the passage (56) during the previous copying cycle.

    Abstract: Copy paper feeding device for a copying apparatus which comprises a plurality of cassettes 12, 13 capable of stroing copy paper sheets and feeding means corresponding to each of cassettes 12, 13 respectively. Each feeding means is driven selectively to feed the copy paper sheets in the case where the cassettes 12, 13 store the copy paper sheets having different sizes, and each feeding means is driven in a predetermined order to feed the copy paper sheets from one cassette 12 or 13 until the cassette 12 or 13 is vacant, then feed the copy paper sheets from the remaining cassette 13 or 12 successively in the case where the cassettes 12, 13 store the copy paper sheets having a same size. The copy paper feeding device includes the means which is situated corresponding to feeding means respectively for selecting a given feeding means to be driven.

    Abstract: A method of controlling dew formation preventing heaters for a copying apparatus which includes a first temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature inside the copying apparatus, with a first reference temperature (T1) being set, a second temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature inside the copying apparatus, with a second reference temperature (T2) higher than said first reference temperature (T1) being set, a humidity detecting means for detecting the humidity inside the copying apparatus, with a reference humidity (H1) being set, and a first group of heaters and a second group of heaters to be controlled by said temperature detecting means and said humidity detecting means.     Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises a memory (25) containing code data, code data input keys (12) and a preheat changeover key (11) for selectively switching a fixing device (81) to a preheat mode or an operation ready mode, whereby the apparatus is permitted to operate when a code data manually entered through the code data input keys (12) is identical with one of the code data already stored in the memory. When the preheat key (11) is pressed, the apparatus is switched to the preheat mode and, at the same time, the entered code data is released. Accordingly, the apparatus requires no dedicated button or key for releasing the entered code data, and may put to practical use the preheat changeover means (11) which has been conventionally provided.
