    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an oxime industrially and advantageously by reacting an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone or an alpha,beta-unsaturated nitrile with an ester compound of nitrous acid in the presence of both a cobalt compound and an organosilicon compound. CONSTITUTION:An alpha,beta-unsaturated compound shown by formula V (R is H, alkyl, etc.; R is H, alkyl, etc.) is reacted with an ester compound of nitrous acid shown by formula VI in the presence of at least one selected from cobalt compounds shown by formula I (R is alkyl, etc.; R is H, alkanoyl, etc.; R and R are H or alkyl), formula II (R and R are H, alkyl, etc.; R and R are H, alkyl, etc.; R and R are, alkanoyl, etc.) and formula III and an organosilicon compound shown by formula IV (R and R are H, alkyl, etc.; R is H, alkyl, etc.) to give an oxime shown by formula VII. This method is a new reaction carried out in the presence of both the cobalt compound and the organosilicon compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To safely produce a ketone in high efficiency and yield by using a specific cobalt complex as a catalyst and contacting a vinylsilane with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a secondary alcohol. CONSTITUTION:The objective ketone of formula II is produced by contacting a vinylsilane of formula I (R is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, arylalkyl or alkoxy; R and R are H, alkyl, aryl or arylalkyl; R to R may together with other group form a ring) with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a secondary alcohol using a catalyst consisting of a cobalt complex of formula III (R , R , R and R are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkoxyalkyl, etc.; R and R are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.) [e.g. bis(1-pentafluorophenyl-1,3-butanedionato)cobalt]. The oxidation reaction can be safely carried out under extremely mild condition.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of the formula (R and R are lower alkyl) and salts thereof. EXAMPLE:Methyl 2-formylacetoacetate. USE:A ligand for transition metal complexes or chelate compounds. Useful for production of cobalt complexes having an excellent oxidation-reduction activity and the resultant cobalt complexes can be used as a catalyst in production of a hydroxyl group-containing compound or a ketone from an olefin. PREPARATION:For example, an alkyl 2-alkoxymethylene-beta-ketoacetate is decomposed using an alkali or an alkyl beta-ketoacetate is reacted with an alkyl orthoformate and acetic anhydride to synthesize an alpha-alkoxymethylene-beta- ketoacetic acid. The synthesized compound is decomposed using an alkali without isolation, thus obtaining the objective compound of the formula.
