    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce an arylalkyl hydroperoxide in high concentration by oxidizing a specific arylalkyl hydrocarbon with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a specific catalyst in high conversion with suppressed decomposition of the subject hydroperoxide formed. CONSTITUTION: (A) A compound of the formula (R , R are each H, an alkyl; Ar is an n-valent aromatic hydrocarbon group; (n) is 1-3), for example, cumene, cymene, is oxidized with (C) an oxygen-containing gas, for example, air in the presence of a catalyst of (B) a polynuclear metal complex which is prepared by adding 2 moles of an alkaline earth metal hydroxide (B1 ) to an aqueous solution of 1 mole of a polydentate ligand such as 1,3-diamino-2-hydroxypropane- N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid, neutralizing the solution, adding 2 moles of a metal selected from Co, Ru, Cu, Cr, V and Fe to the solution, adding acetic anhydride thereto, then adding B1 excessively to make the solution alkaline, further adding hydrogen peroxide and a poor solvent for the metal complex to be formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an unsaturated ethylenic copolymer, having a high vulcanization rate, excellent in weather, heat and ozone resistance and useful as automotive parts, etc., by copolymerizing ethylene with a specific alpha-olefin and a specified polyene in a specific proportion in the presence a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:(A) Ethylene is copolymerized with (B) a 3-20C alpha-olefin and (C) one or more polyenes of formula I (n is 2-5; R is 1-5C alkyl; R to R are H or R with the proviso that both R and R are not simultaneously H) in the presence of a catalyst formed from a transition metallic compound and an organoaluminum compound to afford the objective copolymer comprising 30-92mol% constituent unit of the component (A), 6-70mol% constituent unit of the component (B) and 0.1-30mol% constituent unit of the component (C) at (40/60) to (92/8) molar ratio of the components (A)/(B) in which the constituent unit derived from the component (C) has a structure of formula II and the intrinsic viscosity [eta] measured in decalin at 35 deg.C is 0.05-10dl/g.
