    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition having extremely excellent physical properties and high industrial value by compounding syndiotactic poly-4- methylpentene-1 to a base resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by mixing (A) 0.0001-10 pts.wt. of syndiotactic poly-4-methylpentene-1 with (B) 99.9999-90 pts.wt. of a highly crystalline polypropylene. The component A to be used in the present process has a melting point of >=160 deg.C and is produced by using a catalyst system composed of an aluminoxane and a transition metal compound such as isopropyl(cyclopentadienyl-1-fluorenyl)hafnium dichloride.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new polymer which is an alpha-olefin addition polymer of a specific number of carbon atoms having a peak of methylene groups in the backbone chain on the higher magnetic field side of peaks of isotactic bonds in C-NMR, specific molecular weight and high stereoregularity. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer, obtained by polymerizing a >=4C alpha-olefin (e.g. butene-1) at 25 deg.C for 5hr using methylaluminoxane as a catalyst in an autoclave and having a new structure of the absorption peak, assigned to methylene groups directly bound to the backbone chain in C-NMR measured in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene and observed as one peak on the higher magnetic field side at the position of the absorption peak assigned to isotactic bonds with its absorption intensity of >=0.3 based on the total sum of absorption peaks of methylene groups directly bound to the backbone chain and >=1000 molecular weight expressed in terms of polypropylene measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a syndiotactic poly-3-methylbutene-1 which by itself or in a mixture with another polymer has possibilities of use in many fields by polymerizing 3-methylbutene-1 by a specified polymerization process. CONSTITUTION:A substantially syndiotactic poly-3-methylbutene-1, wherein four peaks at about 18.9, 22.6, 33.1 and 39.2ppm with reference to tetramethylsilane are observed in a C-NMR spectrum measured in a 1,2,4- trichlorobenzene solution, the ratio among the intensities of the peaks is about (2:1:1:1) and the molecular weight as measured by gel permeation chromatography is 1000 or more. An example of the process for producing this polymer comprises polymerizing 3-methylbutene-1 in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a transition metal catalyst such as isopropyl(cyclopentadienyl-1-fluorenyl)zirconium dichloride and a methylaluminoxane of a degree of polymerization of 10 or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain in high activity an olefin polymer in an industrially advantageous manner by using, as a catalyst, a reaction product from a specific transition metal compound, an organic aluminum compound and water with good hand liability and storage stability of said catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is polymerized using, as a catalyst, a reaction product from a transition metal (group IVA metal) compound [e.g., tetrabenzyltitanium (IV)], an organoaluminum compound (e.g., trimethylaluminum) and water. For each constituent of said catalyst, it is preferable that the molar ratio Al/ transition metal atom is (1:10)-(1:10 ) and the molar ratio (Al + transition metal atom)/water is (1:1)-(2:1). Said reaction product can be prepared by e.g., direct reaction between the respective components in an organic solvent.
