    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium having interchangeability to multi-wavelength laser, in an optical recording medium wherein a recording layer, a reflecting layer and a protective layer are provided on a substrate, by adding a quinophthalone compd. having the absorption max. within a specific wavelength range to the recording layer. SOLUTION: In an optical recording medium wherein a recording layer, a reflecting layer and a protective layer are provided on a substrate, a quinophthalone compd. represented by formula (wherein R1 -R8 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group or an alkyl group and X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group) and having the absorption max. within a wavelength range of 400-500nm is added to the recording layer. By using the quinophthalone compd. or a mixture of this compd. and a compd. having proper light absorption in the recording layer, the optical recording medium capable of being recorded and reproduced by laser with a wavelength of 480-600nm and capable of being reproduced or recorded and reproduced by laser of 600-830nm can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an optical recording medium which can be recorded and/or reproduced by a red laser with a prescribed wavelength and satisfies CD standards by laminating a recording layer and an optical interference layer composed mainly of an organic pigment and having a prescribed refractive index and a prescribed extinction coefficient. CONSTITUTION: A recording layer 2' and an optical interference layer 3' on a substrate 1' are layers which are composed of an organic pigment. The recording layer 2' has optical constants as a refractive index of 1.8 or higher in a laser beam at a wavelength λ1, that of 1.0 or higher in a laser beam at a wavelength λ2, an extinction coefficient of 0.04 to 0.20 at the wavelength λ1 and that of 0.04 to 0.6 at the wavelength λ2. In addition, the optical interference layer 3' has optical constants as a refractive index of 1.5 or higher at the wavelength λ1, that of 1.7 or higher at the wavelength λ2, an extinction coefficient of 0.02 to 0.15 at the wavelength λ2 and that of 0.04 to 0.25 at the wavelength λ2. In addition, the wavelength λ1 of the laser beam is selected from a range of 770 to 830nm, and the wavelength λ2 is selected from a range of 620 to 690nm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium capable of corresponding to the recording and reproduction due to near IR laser and red laser by forming a recording layer so that the absorbancy of light with a specific wavelength shows a specific value. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium obtained by successively laminating a recording layer containing a dye, a reflecting layer and a protective layer on a substrate, the recording layer has absorption max. at below 630nm and is formed from a substance wherein the absorbancy of light (lambda1) with a wavelength of 630--690nm is 0.03-0.5 and the absorbancy of light (lambda2) with a wavelength of 770-830nm is 0.03-0.3. Or, the recording layer has absorption max. at below 630nm and 680-900nm. By this constitution, the optical recording medium capable of being reproduced by red laser with a wavelength of 630-690nm and capable of being recorded and reproduced by near IR laser with a wavelength of 770-830nm is obtained. Further, the optical recording medium is formed so that the reflectivity to the light of lambda1 measured through the substrate is 15% or more and the reflectivity to the light of lambda2 is 65% or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a colorant for use in optical recording media which retains high sensitivity even in high-speed or high-density recording to attain satisfactory recording properties and which is excellent in long-term stability and light resistance by obtaining a specific phthalocyanine compound. CONSTITUTION:One to four phthalonitrile compounds represented by formula I (where R and R' each is a 1-15C saturated hydrocarbon group or a 2-15C unsaturated hydrocarbon group) are mixed with one to four phthalonitrile compounds represented by formula II (wherein R and R' are as defined above and X is a halogen). This mixture is reacted with a Pd compound with heating either in an alcohol in the presence of, e.g. 1, 8-diazabicyclo[5, 4, 0]undecene (DBU) or in a high-boiling solvent such as chloronaphthalene. Thus, this compound is obtained, which is represented by formula III (wherein R to R each is a 1-15C (un)substituted saturated hydrocarbon group or a 2-15C (un)substituted unsaturated hydrocarbon group and X to X each is a halogen or H). One or two layers of one to three compounds comprising this compound are formed on a transparent substrate by coating or vapor deposition to obtain this medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve oxidation stability and to maintain high saturated magnetization against deterioration of an environment by simultaneously neutralizing cobalt and iron in slurry in which iron-base oxyhydroxide particles are dispersed, and immediately forming gel generated directly as spinel compound as particle surface film. CONSTITUTION:The bivalent ions of cobalt and the trivalent ferric ions are simultaneously neutralized in slurry in which iron-base oxyhydroxide particles are dispersed, and gel generated directly as spinel compound is formed as film on the surfaces of the particles. Further, after ferromagnetic metal particles are formed to be obtained by heating, reducing, they are smoothly oxidized to stop the igniting property to form ferrite film having spinel structure on the surfaces of the particles. Thus, excellent oxidation stability is obtained, and even if an environment is deteriorated, highly saturated magnetization can be maintained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium whose durability is excellent, whose reliability is high and which can be manufactured at low costs by a method wherein a light-reflecting layer is constituted of a thin metal layer and of a silver reflective layer. SOLUTION: An optical recording medium is constituted in such a way that a light-absorbing layer which contains an organic pigment, a thin metal layer, a silver reflective layer and a protective layer are laminated sequentially on a transparent substrate. Alternatively, an optical recording medium is constituted in such a way that a light-absorbing layer which contains an organic pigment, a thin metal layer, a silver reflective layer, a metal layer and a protective layer are laminated sequentially on a transparent substrate. It is desirable that, in the optical recording medium, the thin metal layer is a metal layer whose film thickness is at 0.1 to 5nm and which is composed of Ti, V, Cr, Cu, Zn or W.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a highly reliable optical recording medium having excellent light resistance at a low cost by a method wherein a metal layer whose main component is silver is employed as a light reflective layer. SOLUTION: A optical recording medium is composed of a transparent substrate 10 and a light absorbing layer 20 containing at least organic dyestuff an amorphous transparent oxide layer 30, a light reflective layer 40 and a protective layer 50 which are formed on the transparent substrarte 10. In the optical recording medium, the transparent oxide layer 30 consists of an oxide layer whose main components are amorphous indium oxide and tin oxide and the light reflective layer 40 consists of a metal layer whose main component is silver. With this constitution, a recordable optical recording medium which shows a high reflectivity over a wide wavelength range and, further, has the excellent light resistance and moisture-resistant characteristics can be manufactured.
