Abstract: A low profile, surface mount printed circuit card connector includes a housing having a longitudinal card receiving slot therein. The housing includes first and second terminal receiving cavities which are disposed in a staggered relationship on opposite sides of the slot first and second terminals are disposed in the cavities and include solder tail portions which extend out of the cavities for connection to a circuit board. The terminals further include contact portions which extend out of their respective cavities into the housing longitudinal slot.

SOLUTION: The housing is provided with a loading face for the connection object device to be loaded on, at least a pair of long guide holes for at least a pair of guide members protruded from one face of the device to be inserted into, and a slide member fitted so as to slide together with the device from an initial position to a connection position. The slide member covers a part of the guide holes at the initial position to make an opening an initial shape, and when the guide members are inserted into the guide holes from the opening at the initial shape, the device is loaded on the initial position on the loading face.

The tip parts of the part of contacts of respective contacts are set at a position which is one stage lower than that of the surface of the substrate K1. Flexions 14, 15, for making the lengths respectively equal to the electrical conduction paths reaching the tip part 12 from this base end part 11, are formed at respective contacts.

Conductive patterns 3a, 3b of each pair comprises parallel parts 6 parallel to each other between straight line parts 4 of the conductive patterns 3a, 3b on both the obverse and reverse, and crossing parts 7 which cross each other and composed of transition parts 5 extending from the straight lien parts 4 and crossing points. The conductive pattern 3a, 3b of the oblique transition part 5 are formed so as to gradually reduce their widths toward the crossing points form ends thereof, and a characteristic impedance of the conductive patterns 3a, 3b in the parallel parts 6 between the straight line parts 4 and that of the conductive patterns 3a, 3b at the oblique transition part 5 and the crossing points are adjusted almost equal.
