    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and precisely dispose a terminal to an insulation housing by holding lead parts of a plurality of terminals at channels provided in parallel at a terminal connection end of an insulation housing, and further, deforming, locking, and fixing a partition wall of the channels. SOLUTION: In a modular jack type electric connector 10 in which a plurality of terminals 28 are disposed in an insulation housing 12 consisting of an external shell 14 and an internal insert 16, an upper middle part 30 of the terminals 28 is fixed onto the internal insert 16 by means of a boss 44, a rear lead part 34 folded downwardly is supported by channels provided outside of the internal insert in a terminal connection portion 22, a leg part 36 to be soldered to a board is extended, and a front contact part 32 is bent and held in a plug reception opening 20. Holding by channels of this terminal 28 is performed by pressing a rear lead part 34 to channels partitioned on the partition wall provided in a terminal holding area 38 while a small part of the shield wall is engraved, and further, molding and locking a large part thereof.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector with a latch device that can enlarge a latch hook without enlarging the whole dimension of the housing of the electric connector. SOLUTION: An electric connector 20 provides an inductive housing that can be attached to a complementary support structure 24 in specified attachment direction A. The housing provides both side walls 18. Latch arms 20 are extending forward to the attachment direction A, supported on one side from each side wall 18 of the housing. Each latch arm 20 provides a latch hook 20a near the free end of the latch arm 20. The latch hooks 20a are projected toward each side wall 18 of the housing 12 to the traverse direction of the attachment direction A. The side walls 18 provide ditches facing inside that the projected latch hook 20a.

A plurality of terminals (28) are mounted on the housing, with lead portions (34) of the terminals located in the channels (42). The method includes the steps of seating the lead portions (34) of the terminals into the channels (42), and forming first or minor portions (54) from the partition walls (40) onto the lead portions to retain the lead portions in the channels (42). Second or major portions (56) of the partition walls (40) then are formed onto the lead portions (34) to securely lock the lead portions in the channels (42). The seating step and the first forming step may be carried out simultaneously.

    Abstract: A connector housing has a circuit board mounting face, at least one retention member securing the connector to the printed circuit board. The retention member is U-shaped, defining a pair of leg sections extending perpendicular to the printed circuit board and a bight section joining the leg sections parallel to the printed circuit board. The bight section defines a pad for solder connection to a solder pad on the circuit board, the bight section having a given width transverse to the U-shaped profile of the retention member. A recess in the circuit board mounting face of the connector housing is complementarily shaped for receiving at least one of the leg sections of the retention member in an interference fit. The at least one leg section is narrower than the given width of the bight section including at least one stabilising flange projecting from the bight section into a complementarily shaped recess in the circuit board mounting face. The stabilising flange is coplanar with, narrower and shorter than the at least one leg section.
