    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic circuit which copes with the necessity of a portable electronic device, further supports it and is especially suitable for low voltage use that accompanies a heavy current pulse requirement. SOLUTION: An electronic circuit 106 of a portable electronic device is provided with energy source interfaces 108 and 114, a load connected to the interfaces 108 and 114, an energy storage circuit having the maximum operation voltage and switch circuits 132 and 140. The circuits 132 and 140 are connected to the energy storage circuit and are connected directly to the interfaces 108 and 114. When a voltage that exceeds the maximum operation voltage exists in the load, the circuits 132 and 140 respond to it and operate so as to switchably separate the energy storage circuit.

    Abstract: A subscriber device ( 2 ) includes a long code generator ( 12 ) and a modifier ( 30 ) for generating a spread bit stream with a predetermined error pattern that is transmitted by a transmitter ( 16 ) at the subscriber device ( 2 ) to a base station ( 3 ). The base station ( 3 ) identifies the current subscriber device properties by identifying the error pattern and subsequently compares the current subscriber device properties with a knowledge base of subscriber device software properties associated with the error pattern in the spread bit stream. The knowledge base is stored in a memory source ( 4 ).

    Abstract: A fractional-N synthesizer employing at least a second order sigma-delta modulator is disclosed. The most significant bits from the output accumulator of the sigma-delta modulator are used as the carry out control for the variable divisor of the loop divider. Modulation to the synthesizer is introduced as part of the digital number input to the sigma-delta modulator and spurious signal output is reduced by selection of a large number as the denominator of the fractional portion of the loop divider divisor.

    Abstract: The latched accumulator fractional-N synthesiser has reduced residual error for use in digital radio transceivers. The divisor of the frequency divider (103) of the synthesiser is varied with time by the summation of accumulator carry output digital sequences which result in frequency increments equal to a fraction of the reference frequency. The accumulators (615, 617) are latched so that upon the occurrence of a clock pulse, data is transferred through each accumulator one clock pulse step at a time, so that the delay through the system is equal to that of only one accumulator. The latched output of the second highest order accumulator (619) is subtracted from the latched output of the highest order accumulator (621) and differentiated before being applied to the loop filter (109).
