Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition containing, as an agent for protecting against light, pure aloesin or an aloe extract containing at least 40% of aloesin and less than 5% of barbaloin, in a quantity of 0.5 to 20% by weight, in a cosmetically acceptable medium. Such a cosmetic composition can consist of a protective composition, a sunscreen composition or a cosmetic composition stabilized against light and can be applied on skin or to hair.
Abstract:
Use of hydroxyanthraquinones for the coloration of human keratin fibres, and process and composition in which they are used. The composition contains, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one hydroxyanthraquinone of the formula: in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 independently of one another denote a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group, an alkyl group substituted, for example, by a hydroxyl, amino or acyl group, an alkoxy group, a nitro group, a halogen group, a group SO3H, CHO, CO2H or SO3Na, or a group -CO2R', in which R' denotes alkyl or an alkali metal, with the proviso that: at least two of the groups R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 denote hydroxyl, and that if R1 and R2 denote OH, R5, R6, R7 and R8 denoting hydrogen, then at least one of the two groups R3 and R4 is different from hydrogen, or alternatively if R1 and R3 denote OH, R2 and R4 denoting hydrogen and one or two of the substituents R5, R6, R7 and R8 denoting hydroxyl, then at least one of the substituents R5, R6, R7 and R8 is different from hydrogen, alkyl or halogen.
Abstract:
Topical compositions containing an alpha pyrone of formula (I) in a physiologically-acceptable medium are new. In (I), R1 is H or 1-4C alkoxy; R2 is H or OH; R3 is 1-4C alkyl, styryl, or phenethyl, opt. substd. by 1 or 2 methylene dioxy groups or 1 or 2 OH or 1-4C alkoxy groups such that when R2 is OH, R3 is unsubstituted phenethyl. (I) is pref. kawain or 5-methyl- delta-valerolactone. The compositions may be in an aqueous, aqueous organic, or organic medium and contain 0.05 - 10 (pref. 0.1 - 60)% of (I). They may contain other known adjuvants such as surfactants, thickeners, gelling agents, cosmetics, preservatives etc.. The presence of 1 - 6% of a thickening agent is specifically claimed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a light-stable cosmetic composition for protecting the human epidermis against UV radiation, containing at least 0.0025% by weight of bixin combined with at least 1% by weight of one or more lipid-soluble agents screening UV radiation, chosen from 3-benzylidene-dl-camphor, its derivatives and benzophenone derivatives, in a cosmetically acceptable vehicle comprising at least one fatty phase. The bixin takes the form of an oily extract of annatto containing at least 0.1% by weight of bixin.
Abstract:
Cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition consisting of a dispersion in a physiologically acceptable aqueous phase D of vesicles of ionic and/or nonionic amphiphilic lipid(s) bounded by one or more lipid lamellae, the lipid lamellae containing at least one retinoid compound, and the aqueous dispersion phase, a pyrimidine derivative. This composition may be used in topical application on the hair and scalp.
