    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation in accuracy of the operation of an elevator car door to a minimum, and to dispense with the conversion of the linear position of the door to the rotational position. SOLUTION: The positional and directional data on an elevator car door are converted by directly connecting one encoder to an encoder pulley. An idler pulley 32 is mounted on one side part of a header bracket 16, an encoder pulley 34 is mounted on a side part on the opposite side, and an association cable 36 which is extended above the pulleys 32, 34 and forms a closed loop comprising a first loop part and a second loop part is arranged. A rotary encoder to measure the position and the operational direction of the elevator car doors 12, 14 is directly arranged in the encoder pulley 34. A polymer liner of high coefficient of friction is used to minimize the friction between the pulleys and the association cable 36 is used for the idler pulley 32 and the encoder pulley 34.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance elevator car door system for opening and closing the door of elevator car. SOLUTION: An elevator car door system for opening and closing the door of elevator car includes a high performance linear induction motor having a pair of moving primary sides 16 mounted to each door hanger 14 and a motor secondary side 18 mounted to a header bracket fixed to the elevator car. Each motor pirmary side 16 includes a primary winding 24 and back iron 26 forming electromagnetic air gap between a primary winding 24 and the motor primary side 16 separated by a plurality of spacers 28. The motor secondary side 18 is placed between the porimary winding 24 and the back iron 26 when the moving motor primary side 16 runs on the motor secondary side and generate thrust.
