Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tobacco web suitable for the use in an electrical cigarette system. SOLUTION: The tobacco web wound so as to form a cylindrical tobacco rod 60 for a cigarette 23 operated by an electric cigar lighter 25 (figure 2) includes a base web 68 and a tobacco material 70 arranged along the first side of the base web. The base web comprises a combination of a tobacco fiber with a cellulosic fiber combined in a ratio of from about 2:1 to 4:1. The base web has a basic weight within the range of about 35 to 45 g/cm 2 , and the tobacco material has at least twice of the basic weight of the base web. The tobacco material contains finely pulverized tobacco and an extracted tobacco solid material in a ratio of from about 3:1 to 9:1, and further contains a humectant in a level of about 5 to 20 wt.% of the material. Abstract:
A cigarette (30) includes an ignition element (36) in contact with tobacco (40, 42), surrounded by a composite outer wrapper (38). The outer wrapper (38) is impervious to oxygen causing the tobacco (40, 42) to extinguish between puffs. The ignition element (36), however, has a longer static burn time than the tobacco (40, 42) and remains smoldering between puffs. Upon a subsequent puff, the smoldering ignition element (36) reignites the tobacco (40, 42). One or more initially occluded perforations (34) in the outer layer (38) maintain the uniformity in combustion of the tobacco (40, 42) and the ignition element (36).
Abstract:
An aerosol generator (21) includes a flow passage (27) having an inlet (29), and an outlet (31); a heater (33) arranged relative to the flow passage for heating the flow passage, a source of material (37) to be volatilized in communication with the inlet of the flow passage; a valve (35) to open, and close communication between the source of material; the inlet of the flow passage; and a pressurization arrangement (39) for causing material in the source of material to be introduced into the flow passage when the valve is in an open position. The aerosol generator further includes a source of power (41) for operating the heater, the valve; and a control device (43) for controlling supply of power from the source of power to the heater, and the valve. A metering device (463) in an inhaler (401) includes a pressurized source of medicated fluid (408), and a metering chamber (407) configured to deliver a predetermined volume of fluid to a heated flow passage (409) in the inhaler.
Abstract:
An aerosol generator periodically forms aerosolized fragrance material by repeatedly supplying a liquid fragrance material to a capillary passage 40 via only capillary action and heating the capillary passage 40, such that the liquid fragrance material at least partially volatilizes and is driven out of an outlet 45 of the capillary passage 40. A wick 20 feeds the liquid fragrance material to an inlet of the capillary passage 40 by capillary action. An apparatus and method for generating such an aerosolized fragrance material, as well as the methods of heating, are disclosed.
Abstract:
A respiratory humidification system (10) having a capillary passage (52) in communication with a ventilator (80), the ventilator adapted to deliver an air stream, a heater operable to at least partially vaporize water in the capillary passage, a pumping unit (40) adapted to supply water to the capillary passage, wherein the water upon heating is at least partially vaporized to form an aerosol stream. The aerosol stream is combined with the air stream to form a humidified air stream.
Abstract:
A cigarette (23) comprises a tobacco rod having filled and unfilled portions arranged so that electrical heater elements (37) may overlap both portions. The rod includes a tubular tobacco web. The web is constructed by converting tobacco feedstock into a continuous sheet of tobacco web and converting the continuous sheet of tobacco web into one or ore bobbins of tobacco web suitable for automated manufacture of cigarettes. A heater (25) comprises a supporting hub and electrically resistive heater blades (37) defining a receptacle (27) for an inserted cigarette (23). Each blade comprises first and second heater blade legs each having a first end and a second end, and a connecting section connecting the second end of the first leg and the first end of the second leg. The blades (37) are heated by a resistive heating circuit and heat the inserted cigarette (23). The legs are separated by a gap to permit entrainment of flavour substances upon drawing.
