    Abstract: The invention relates to a power supply unit with an inverter which cooperates with a resonant circuit (L, C) and can be controlled so as to adjust the output power by means of a control unit (6). The power supply unit is characterized notably by the fact that it is formed by a first and a second switching unit (S1, S4; S2, S3) whereby a voltage of a first polarity can be applied to the resonant circuit (L, C) in a first switching state and a voltage of a second polarity can be applied thereto in a second switching state, the switching states being switchable by the control unit (6) in such a manner that in a first mode of operation for low output powers the output power can be adjusted by changing the duration of the switching states at an essentially constant switching frequency fs which is at least a predetermined factor lower than the resonance frequency fres of the resonant circuit, and that in a second mode of operation for high output powers the output power can be adjusted by changing the switching frequency in the range of the resonance frequency.

    Abstract: A power supply power supply comprising a DC voltage supply, a control unit and a plurality of high voltage channels is suggested. Each high voltage channel includes an inverter, a resonance circuit, a transformer, and a rectifier. The resonance circuit cooperates with the inverter. The inverter is formed by a first switching unit and a second switching unit whereby a voltage of a first polarity can be applied to the resonance circuit in a first switching state, whereas a voltage of a second polarity can be applied to the resonance circuit in a second switching state. The switching states can be switched by the control unit in such a manner that in a first mode of an operation for high output power, the output power can be adjusted by changing the switching frequency in the range of the resonance frequency. In a second mode of operation for low output power, the output power can be adjusted by changing the duration of the switching state at an essentially constant switching frequency, which is at least a predetermined factor lower than the resonance frequency of the resonance circuit. In addition to that a method for operating this kind of power supply with particularly low output power is proposed.

    Abstract: The power supply stage is used to supply the X-ray tube (4) via a HV transformer (3) with 2 groups of primary and secondary windings (16, 31; 26, 32) which are wound on the same transformer core. The coupling factor between the primary windings (16, 26) of the different winding groups is less than the coupling factor between the primary and secondary windings of the same winding group. Each of the primary windings is coupled to a respective current regulator (1, 2) with a fixed operating frequency and an individually regulated pulse ratio, providing overlapping voltage pulses.
