Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for providing an efficient method of issuing an invoice to a user of a communication system with respect to a system resource having been consumed, the method, and a product.SOLUTION: A user may incur a one-time charge for downloading a desired application program, or may be charged a download fee plus a recurring monthly fee for having continual access to the program and any updates to the program. Further, a fee might also be charged for each time the application is used. These fees are recorded as debits and transferred to an invoicing location where an invoice reflecting the debits is constructed. For example, the debits may include fees for wireless service access, Internet service access, download application programs, data, multimedia services, or other fees.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, method, and computer program for data communication, or "handshaking, " between a server and wireless devices on a wireless network. SOLUTION: When a wireless device communicates with a server, the server obtains data indicative of wireless device attributes from the wireless device and determines access of the wireless device, based on the wireless device attributes, to applications either resident on that server or on other computer devices on the wireless network. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give licenses to use content on an original device and a destination device.SOLUTION: A method of obtaining one or more licenses to use content is provided. The method may include scanning an original device 102 to locate digital content residing on the original device 102, and requesting from a licensing server 106 a license to use the digital content on the original device 102, a destination device 104, or a combination thereof. Systems and apparatus for obtaining one or more licenses to use content are further provided.

A user may incur a one-time charge for downloading a desired application program, or the user may be charged a download fee plus a recurring monthly fee for having frequent access to the program and any updates to the program. A fee might also be charged for each time the application is used. These fees are recorded as debits and transferred to an invoicing location where an invoice reflecting the debits is constructed. DONDE EL SISTEMA COMPRENDE: a) UN DISPOSITIVO INALAMBRICO O MAS EN COMUNICACION SELECTIVA CON LA RED INALAMBRICA, EN DONDE CADA DISPOSITIVO TIENE ATRIBUTOS DEL MISMO Y UNA PLATAFORMA DE COMPUTACION PARA EJECUTAR SELECTIVAMENTE LOS PROGRAMAS DE COMPUTACION EN ESTA, ADEMAS DE UN USUARIO FINAL QUE PUEDE TENER ACCESO DE MANERA SELECTIVA A LA PLATAFORMA; Y, b) UN SERVIDOR O MAS EN COMUNICACION CON LA RED INALAMBRICA, EN DONDE CADA SERVIDOR SE ENCUENTRA SELECTIVAMENTE EN COMUNICACION CON (a), Y DESCARGA DE MANERA SELECTIVA APLICACIONES AL MISMO. EL METODO INCLUYE: i) COMUNICARSE DESDE (a) A (b) A TRAVES DE UNA RED INALAMBRICA; ii) OBTENER DATOS DE (a) INDICADORES DE LOS ATRIBUTOS DE (a); Y, iii) DETERMINAR EL ACCESO DE (a) PARA APLICACIONES ACCESIBLES A TRAVES DE (b) BASANDOSE EN LOS ATRIBUTOS DE (a)
Abstract:
A wireless communications device and method operable on the device to manage download requests for an application stored on a server over a wireless network are disclosed. The method includes the steps of sending a request to the server for download of an application and receiving a set of attributes describing a required runtime environment associated with the application. The required attributes are compared with attributes of the runtime environment supported by the communications device to determine whether the application is compatible with the device. If the application is compatible it is downloaded, otherwise downloading is blocked.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program for data communication, or "handshaking," between wireless devices (12) and a server on a wireless network (70, 72). Upon a wireless device (12) communicating with the server (72), the server obtains data from the wireless device (12) indicative of wireless device attributes (82), and the server determines access of the wireless device, based upon the wireless device attributes (90), to applications either resident on that server or on other computer devices on the wireless network (114).
