Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, a method, and a program for remotely interacting with a diagnostic interface resident on wireless computer devices.SOLUTION: The wireless device provides an accessible diagnostic interface that allows reads and/or writes to device resident diagnostic data and tools. Through use of the interaction, wireless device status data and network status data can be gathered and utilized. The diagnostic tools resident on the wireless devices can be manipulated to alter wireless device operation.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for a radio service provider that with a single subscription account, provides a startup of an application by a subscriber who includes a plurality of radio communication apparatuses. SOLUTION: The subscriber is managed with a subscriber table, and a user 1 identified with user accountant information 202 gains access to an application of a product 2 from an optional one of a plurality of radio communication apparatuses (apparatus 1, apparatus 3); however, only a startup of one application is permitted at a time for each subscription account. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for preventing inadvertent operation of a manual input device. SOLUTION: A wireless communication device (100) includes a manual input device (120, 122), a key lock memory (108), and a key lock processor (104). The processor (104) accesses user-programmable parameters stored in the memory (108) that define conditions for automatically disabling and also enabling commands to be issued from the manual input device (120, 122). When the processor (104) determines that the disabling condition has been met, the manual input device (120, 122) is automatically disabled, and will remain disabled until the enabling condition is met. The wireless communication device (100) may further include a timer (130) to measure elapsed time, and a display (120) to show a label indicating the status of the manual input device (120, 122). Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for activating a feature related to a wireless device, and to provide a method and a computer program. SOLUTION: A feature 325 on a carrier server 335 includes additional functions and services that add capability to or accessed by a wireless device 300. The additional functions and services include such as voice mail, voice recognition, access to GPS, MPEG functions, and access to a data channel or increased data rates. The wireless device 300 downloads a component 305 from a download server 315 and the carrier server 335 activates the feature 325. An expiration parameter or other licensing term may be associated with the requested feature 325. Upon expiration, the wireless device 300 or carrier server, or both thereof are reconfigured to deactivate the feature 325. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, method, and computer program for data communication, or "handshaking, " between a server and wireless devices on a wireless network. SOLUTION: When a wireless device communicates with a server, the server obtains data indicative of wireless device attributes from the wireless device and determines access of the wireless device, based on the wireless device attributes, to applications either resident on that server or on other computer devices on the wireless network. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for optimizing an active wireless network. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a system 10 for optimizing a wireless network 14 having at least data communication between computer devices 12, 18, 20, 22 selectively connected thereto. At least one of the computer devices 12, 18, 20, 22 is a remotely located wireless device. The wireless device 12, 18, 20, 22 has a resident network optimization application that causes the selective transmission of network status data to at least one other computer device on the wireless network 14. Then, either the data-receiving computer devices 12, 18, 20, 22 or another computer devices 12, 18, 20, 22 on the wireless network 14 optimizes the wireless network 14 on the basis of the received network status data. Abstract:
Embodiments include a method of increasing advertisement viewing time by a user of a broadcast reception and rendering device, comprising: rendering a broadcast stream associated with a channel from the plurality of channels; providing an interface to the user for changing the rendered channel to a second channel from the plurality of channels; detecting that the user is engaging with the interface for changing the rendered channel; and in response to the detecting, displaying at least one advertisement, the advertisement selected by reference to the user profile and displayed during the channel change. Embodiments also include a method of providing advertisements to a mobile device comprising: receiving a signal indicative of user interest in the displayed advertisement; detecting a request from the user to change a channel on the mobile device; and in response to the detection, displaying data relating to the advertisement.
Abstract:
A system and method for a wireless service provider to provide activation of an application by a subscriber who has a plurality of wireless communications devices in a single subscription account. The subscriber can access the application from any one of the wireless communications devices, but only one activation at a time is allowed for each subscription account.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program for data communication, or "handshaking," between wireless devices (12) and a server on a wireless network (70, 72). Upon a wireless device (12) communicating with the server (72), the server obtains data from the wireless device (12) indicative of wireless device attributes (82), and the server determines access of the wireless device, based upon the wireless device attributes (90), to applications either resident on that server or on other computer devices on the wireless network (114).
