Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To coordinate time required by a mobile station to search for an alternative system used for performing hard hand-off. SOLUTION: The mobile station receives a command instructing a mobile station as for tuning at an alternative frequency to search for the display of the presence of an alternative system. A predetermined time is defined with respect to a reference point of time common between a starting base station and the mobile station. The mobile station executes search only during the predetermined time synchronously with the alternative frequency. Further, the mobile station coordinates a transmission report indicating the result of searching for the alternative system so that the report can be transmitted from the mobile station when the mobile station is tuned at the starting frequency. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for coordinating time duration for searching a substitute system, by which a mobile station performs hard handoff. SOLUTION: As for tuning in a substitute frequency in order to search indication of existence of a substitute system, a mobile station receives an instruction, which directs the mobile station. Predetermined time duration is defined for a reference point of time duration in common for both an origination base station and the mobile station. Then, the mobile station tunes in the substitute frequency and performs search during only the predetermined time. The mobile station coordinates a transmission report, which displays the searched result of the substitute system, in a way that the report may be transmitted from the mobile station when the mobile station tunes in the initiation frequency. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and improved method and apparatus for generating a reduced peak amplitude high data rate channel comprising a set of lower rate channels. SOLUTION: There is provided an apparatus and a method for carrying out data transfer at a high data rate in a plurality of low data rate channel. The set of lower rate channels are phase, rotated before being summed and transmitted. The amount of phase rotation is dependent on the number of channels used to form the higher rate channel. In one embodiment where two lower rate channels are used, the in-phase and quadrature-phase components of the two channels are complex multiplied before upconversion with an in-phase and quadrature-phase sinusoids. For a high rate channel comprising more than two lower rate channels, the in-phase and quadrature-phase component of each channel is upconverted with a set of sinusoids that are phase offset from one another. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for adjusting the time at which a mobile station performs searches for alternative systems, to which a hard hand-off will be conducted between different wireless communication systems. SOLUTION: A mobile station 5 receives a command which instructs the mobile station 5 on when to tune to alternative frequencies, in order to search for indications of the presence of an alternative system. The mobile station 5 tunes to alternative frequencies to perform searches only during predetermined times. In addition, the mobile station 5 coordinates the transmission of reports which indicate the results of searches for alternative systems, such that these reports are transmitted from the mobile station 5, when the mobile station 5 is to be tuned to the starting frequency. Abstract:
A method and apparatus for coordinating the time at which a mobile station (5) performs searches for alternative systems to which a hard handoff will occur. In one system which includes the present invention, the mobile station (5) receives a command which instructs the mobile station (5) as to when to tune to alternative frequencies in order to search for indications of the presence of an alternative system. In another system which includes the present invention, predetermined times are defined with respect to a reference point in time that is common to both an origination base station (10) and a mobile station (5). The mobile station (5) tunes to alternative frequencies to perform searches only during these predetermined times. In addition, the mobile station (5) coordinates the transmission of reports which indicate the results of searches for alternative systems such that these reports are only transmitted from the mobile station (5) when the mobile station (5) is tuned to the origination frequency.
