Abstract: A system and method for enabling the use of popular serial networking application software (24) to transmit PPP packet data via a CDMA type subscriber device (30) to a network such as the internet (22). One or more reserved phone numbers is stored in memory (54) within the subscriber device. The networking application (24) is provided a telephone number to be dialed in order to make a connection to the internet. The telephone number provided to the networking application is compared to the stored reserved telephone numbers. If there is a match, the subscriber device (30) transmits a CONNECT signal back to th e networking application and initiates a packet data call. If there is no match, the subscriber device (30) initiates an asynchronous data call.

Abstract: Procedimiento para utilizar un dispositivo de abonado de tipo CDMA (30) para la transmisión de paquetes de datos recibidos desde un ordenador (10) que contiene software de aplicación de interconexión de redes (24) hasta una red (22), caracterizado por las etapas siguientes: a) proporcionar una primera entrada de datos (50, 50¿ y 50¿¿) a dicho software de aplicación de interconexión de redes, siendo almacenada dicha entrada de datos como el número de teléfono al cual se va a llamar para obtener acceso a una red; b) almacenar por lo menos una segunda entrada de datos en un registro de memoria (54) de dicho dispositivo de abonado de tipo CDMA; c) comparar dicha primera entrada de datos con dicha por lo menos una segunda entrada de datos, y d) crear una llamada de datos por paquetes y proporcionar una señal a dicho software de aplicación de interconexión de redes, que indica que dicho dispositivo de abonado está listo para recibir datos, si dicha primera entrada de datos coincide con dicha porlo menos una segunda entrada de datos.
