Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for shortening the time needed to fix the position of an integrated GPS/wireless terminal unit in acquiring GPS satellite signals from the GPS satellite constellation. SOLUTION: The invention includes a method for narrowing the PN-code phase search. That is, by accounting for the variables in geographic location and time delay relative to GPS time, the systems and methods generate a narrow code-phase search range that enables the terminal unit to more quickly acquire and track the necessary GPS satellites, and thereby more quickly provide accurate position information to a requesting entity. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for synchronizing sequence numbers so as to re-order packets properly at handover.SOLUTION: A transmitter ciphers each input packet with a full sequence number. The transmitter generates output packets for the ciphered packets. Each output packet includes a partial sequence number used for re-ordering and derived from the full sequence number. The full sequence number may be incremented for each input packet or each byte of each packet. The partial sequence number may be used as a sequence number for RLC and may be used for re-ordering, duplicate detection, error correction, and/or other functions. A receiver performs the complementary processing, re-orders received packets based on the partial sequence number included in each packet, and ciphers the received packets using the partial sequence number included in each received packet.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer program product, a receiver, a terminal, and a device and an element, and various viewpoints, a configuration of implementation, and other methods of realizing characteristics, while enabling a precise estimation of a velocity of the terminal efficiently in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: The terminal, a satellite station communicating with the terminal, and each position of two or more satellites are determined to begin with. Further, a rate of residue of a variation of a pseudo-range is decided for each satellite, for example, from (1) an estimated base-band frequency error including Doppler frequency shift due to a movement of the terminal, and (2) estimated Doppler frequency shift due to the satellite movement. One unit of equations is formed from the terminal, the satellite station, the determined position of the satellite, and the rate of residue of the variation of the determined pseudo-range for the satellite. The velocity of the terminal can be estimated from the one unit of equations. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for efficiently configuring and reconfiguring calls using default configurations and differential encoding.SOLUTION: At the network side, a configuration to use for communication with a wireless device is initially selected (512). A default configuration is identified from among a set of default configurations (520). The differences, if any, between the selected configuration and the default configuration are ascertained (522). An identity for the default configuration and the differences, if any, is sent to the wireless device to convey the selected configuration (530). At the wireless device, the message containing the identity for the default configuration is initially received.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device to compose and recompose a calling using a set of default configurations and differential encoding. SOLUTION: A network side selects a configuration to communicate with a wireless device. A difference between the selected configuration and default configuration is checked. The identity for the default configuration and the differences are transmitted to the wireless device, and the selected configuration is transmitted. In the wireless device, a message containing the identity of default configuration is received first. The default configuration is obtained from a memory based on the identity. A determination is made whether the message contains the differences between the default configuration and selected configuration, or not. Values for the default configuration are replaced with the differences sent in the message. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the likelihood of spurious retransmissions from a transmitting entity caused by a second negative acknowledgement (NAK) from a receiving entity when a retransmission process has already been initiated. SOLUTION: In a communication system to selectively delay transmitting a second NAK after an initial NAK has already been sent requesting retransmission of a corrupted packet, a receiving entity initiates a NAK prohibit timer associated with a specific NAK 631. The NAK prohibit timer prevents status reports to a transmitting entity from including a retransmission of the specific NAK until the timer expires. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
