Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The UE starts a first timer (such as a discontinuous reception (DRX) hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) round-trip-time (RTT) timer), after sending an uplink (UE) data transmission to a network entity. The UE then starts a second timer (such as a DRX retransmission timer) when the first timer expires. The UE then determines whether to wake up or sleep for a duration of the second timer based on a prior block error rate (BLER).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for radio frequency (RF) exposure limit compliance using uplink duty cycling. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a buffer status report (BSR) that indicates an amount of data that is to be transmitted by the UE, where lower priority data reported in the BSR may be throttled in order to reduce an amount of uplink resources associated with the lower priority data and thereby adjust an uplink duty cycle of the UE. The reduced uplink duty cycle may provide for additional transmit power that is available for higher priority data transmissions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

The wireless communication device may discard the number of packets. The wireless communication device may transmit the plurality of packets after discarding the number of packets based at least in part on the determination that the number of packets does not satisfy the threshold. Abstract: Example implementations include a method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising detecting an empty condition of data to be transmitted associated with sending a buffer status report (BSR) that would transition the UE from a BSR condition or active bandwidth part (BWP) or RRC active state to a schedule request (SR) condition or default BWP or RRC inactive state having relatively increased transmission latency. The implementations further include identifying a data-to-be-available condition associated with one or more protocol layer entities having data pending to be available for transmission. Additionally, the implementations further include determining a non-zero buffer size value in response to the empty condition and the data-to-be-available condition. Additionally, the implementations further include transmitting the BSR with the non-zero buffer size value.

Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods related to Radio Link Control (RLC) status reporting are provided. A wireless communication device receives one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device determines missing RLC data PDUs in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device receives a first uplink (UL) grant. The wireless communication device transmits a first RLC status report including an indication of a first subset of the missing RLC PDUs less than all the missing RLC PDUs, the indication of the first subset of missing PDUs being based on a size of the first UL grant. The wireless communication device modifies a RLC status prohibit timer based on the transmitted first RLC status report indicating less than all the missing RLC PDUs.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) configured for dual connectivity with a split bearer configuration may transmit uplink data packets to one or both a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG). The UE may transmit an uplink transmission from a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity over one or both of a first radio link control (RLC) entity associated with the MCG and a second RLC entity associated with the SCG. The configuration including a transmit buffer threshold. The UE may receive, at the PDCP entity, an uplink switch start indication. The UE may activate the second RLC entity in response to receiving the uplink switch start indication. The UE may transmit a buffer status report according to a current transmit buffer level plus the transmit buffer threshold. Accordingly, the UE may communicate with the SCG based on the uplink switch start indication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a grant delay request to a base station. The grant delay request may indicate a future time, at or thereafter a base station is requested to allocate resources to the UE. The base station may transmit the uplink grant to the UE allocating the resources to the UE based on the grant delay request, and the UE may transmit, to the base station, an uplink transmission including the uplink data based on the uplink grant. The UE may transmit the grant delay request as part of a scheduling request (SR), or as part of a buffer status report (BSR), or a combination of these.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may wake up from a sleep mode of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle based on receipt of uplink data. The UE may determine if an elapsed time between a prior receipt of one or more reference signals and an uplink transmission to the base station after waking up from the sleep mode is less than a threshold time value. If the elapsed time is less than the threshold time value, the UE may transmit an uplink transmission associated with the received uplink data prior to receiving one or more reference signals that may be used to update transmission parameters for uplink transmissions. If the elapsed time is at or above the threshold value, the UE may wait to receive the one or more reference signals and update the transmission parameters prior to the uplink transmission.
