Abstract:
A system acquisition is initiated to perform inter radio access technology (IRAT) measurement. A waiting period of time is provided before aborting the system acquisition. The period of time is adjustable based on at least one metric. The metric can be a frequency of available measurement gaps, a total number of available measurement gaps, and/or a length of each measurement gap within a subframe. The metric could also be an absolute signal strength of a single neighbor cell and/or a relative signal strength between neighbor cells. The metric could also be a user equipment (UE) measured signal strength compared to a network indicated threshold value for triggering an IRAT measurement report. The metric could also be a percentage of a tone that falls within a measurement gap.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing soft handoff in a third generation code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless communication system 34. The method comprises establishing communication between the wireless communication device 10 and the at least one serving base station 20, monitoring the reverse channel signal strength from the wireless communication device 21b, 22b, 23b, 24b, 25b, 26b from at least one neighboring base station, transmitting to a base station controller 31 the wireless communication device signal strength 21c, 22c, 23c, 24c, 25c, 26c, detected at each neighboring base station 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, compiling at the base station controller 31 a list of effective neighboring base stations periodically transmitting a neighboring base station list update message 30, 32 to the wireless communication device 10, storing the effective neighboring base station list as a neighbor set in the wireless communication device 10, performing forward channel signal strength searching of the neighbor set in the wireless communication device 10 and monitoring the signals from the effective neighboring base stations to accomplish a handoff between the at least one serving base station 20 and the receiving neighboring base station 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 or 26.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured with two subscriber identity modules (SIMs). The UE may select a synchronization beam associated with a random access occasion of a first SIM based on the random access occasion not overlapping in time with a reception opportunity (e.g., a paging occasion) of the second SIM. In some examples, the UE may select the synchronization beam based on an identified signal quality of the synchronization beam (e.g., in comparison to other available synchronization beams that are non-overlapping with the reception opportunity). The UE may perform a random access procedure (e.g., using the first SIM) during the random access occasion associated with the selected synchronization beam and, in some cases, may also monitor (e.g., using the second SIM) resources associated with the paging opportunity.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may initiate a first service associated with a first subscriber identity module (SIM) of the UE and a first priority. The UE may initiate a second service associated with a second SIM of the UE and a second priority. The UE may switch the first priority and the second priority during at least part of the first service or the second service. The UE may perform a communication in accordance with at least one of the first priority or the second priority. Numerous other aspects are described.
