Abstract:
A color picture reproducing tube utilizes three coplanar electron beams. Convergence of the three beams along at least one axis is accomplished by a deflection assembly producing a magnetic deflection field with particular astigmatism characteristics which also elliptically disorts each of the three beams in a first direction. The electron gun assembly within the picture tube includes apertured electrods which predisort the beams elliptically in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction of disortion.
Abstract:
The exciter, mounted closely behind the deflection yoke on the neck of the tube, has three pairs of external coils which are respectively associated with three pairs of internal pole pieces and are enveloped by a ferromagnetic core.
Abstract:
A sawtooth waveform is coupled to the input terminals of a modified bridge circuit for producing a parabolic current through a load coupled to the output terminals of the bridge. At least one leg of the bridge includes at least two unidirectional conducting devices and means for biasing at least one of the devices for conducting before the other for altering the current slope through the load for more closely approximating a parabolic current waveform.
Abstract:
A large-screen wide-deflection angle color picture tube utilizes three coplanar electron beams. Convergence of horizontal lines on the picture tube viewing screen is accomplished by positioning a deflection yoke exhibiting particular astigmatism characteristics relative to the electron beams of the picture tube. Convergence of vertical lines is accomplished by energizing quadrupole magnetic field producing windings disposed about the picture tube neck at a vertical scanning rate.
Abstract:
A color television display system is described which requires no dynamic convergence apparatus for small and medium size screen color picture tubes and which requires relatively simple dynamic convergence apparatus for large screen color picture tubes. The color picture tube includes an electron gun assembly for producing three adjacent coplanar beams having a predetermined maximum spacing therebetween. The electron gun assembly includes a common three-aperture beam forming electrode for establishing precise alignment of the beams. The beams are substantially converged at all points in the scanned raster as they are deflected by a deflection yoke providing negative horizontal isotropic astigmatism and positive vertical isotropic astigmatism. The gun assembly includes magnetic shield members disposed around the two outside beam paths to shield those beams from a portion of the deflection field so that the raster scanned by the three beams are the same size. In addition, the color picture tube includes a faceplate having repeating groups of three different color phosphor strips and an aperture mask including a plurality of elongated slit apertures disposed adjacent the phosphor strips to enhance the light output from the picture tube.
Abstract:
The cathode ray tube electron gun has means for generating and directing a plurality of electron beams along substantially coplanar paths. Two sets of magnetic plates provide independent enhancement of magnetic fields for deflecting the beams perpendicularly to the plane of the paths and in the plane of the paths. Plates in the first set are located between each of the paths and outwardly of the outermost paths. Plates in the second set are in pairs, each pair having one plate on each side of a beam perpendicular to the plane of the beams.
