    Abstract: A broadband double-ridge waveguide magic tee employing two rods for connecting the upper ridge of the H-arm of the magic tee to both ridges of the E-arm of the magic tee. The upper ridges of each of the colinear side arms is connected to the nearest ridge of the E-arm. The lower ridges of the colinear side arms and the H-arm are connected to each other.

    Abstract: Apparatus using microwave energy for the therapeutic and hyperthermic treatment of an internal body organ such as the prostate gland. An irregularly shaped coaxial applicator having a narrow portion and a wide portion is inserted through the male anus into the rectum such that a substantially maximum intensity of the microwave energy irradiates the prostrate gland for preferential heating of the prostate gland and a substantially minimum intensity irradiates untreated tissue. Temperature sensing means are positioned on the periphery of the applicator to measure the tissue environment irradiated by the microwave energy. A controller, operating with the temperature sensing means, is provided to maintain the temperature of the tissue environment within a desired temperature range.

    Abstract: A microstrip circulator mounted within a metallic enclosure includes a dielectric substrate, a single ground planar conductor on one surface of the substrate and a plurality of narrow strip-like conductors extending from a common junction region on the opposite surface of the substrate. The substrate at the junction region includes gyromagnetic material so that when a D.C. magnetic field is applied in the direction perpendicular to the substrate, circulator action is provided. A metallic post positioned between the junction region of the narrow conductors and a wall of the metallic enclosure eliminates unwanted radiation modes.
