    Abstract: PURPOSE:To drive with a suitable input current even if any input voltage is input and to be reduced in size by placing a constant-current element on an input side lead frame, and connecting it in series with a light emitting element. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 8 to be operated by a control signal applied between a pair of lead terminals (a) and (b) and a photodetector 3 which receives a light from the element 8 and outputs a signal are provided. A constant-current element 20 for supplying a driving current of a predetermined value to the element 8 is provided irrespective of the voltage value of a power supply for applying a driving voltage to the element 8. The element 8 is placed on one terminal (b), the element 20 is placed on the other terminal (b), and one electrode 21 of the element 8 is connected to one electrode 22 of the element 20. Thus, a highly universal optical coupler which is operated in a wide input voltage range is provided, and the coupler can be reduced in size and thickness.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the loss of electrical characteristics of a circuit forming part by using a horizontal plane in higher position of a bent plate having two horizontal planes which are connected through a step part as a circuit forming part and by using the horizontal plane in lower position as a heat dissipation panel on which the semiconductor pellets generating heat are mounted and fixed. CONSTITUTION:The bent plate 15 is composed of a copper plate and the part of the horizontal plane 13 in higher position near the opposite end to the side of the lower- position horizontal plane 14 is used as the lead pin forming part 17 for forming plural lead pins 16 projecting in the direction separating from the lower-position horizontal plane 14. The part between the lead pin forming part 17 of the higher-position horizontal plane 13 and the lower-position horizontal plane 14 is used as a circuit forming part 24 for forming the circuit composed of four first semiconductor pellets 18-21 composed of diodes, an IC pellet 22, and a chip resistance 23. In the bent plate 15, the lower-position horizontal plane 14 is used as a heat dissipation panel 26 on which the second semiconductor pellet 25 composed of transistor is mounted and fixed. The thickness of the lower position horizontal plane 14 is formed thicker than that of the higher-position horizontal plane 13.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-shielding layer having high resistance and high light-shielding property from an inexpensive material and by an inexpensive method and to provide a spatial light modulation element which improves the contrast ratio or image defects and which increases the productivity. SOLUTION: The spatial light modulation element is produced by successively forming a light reflection layer 2, light-shielding layer 3, photoconductive layer 4, transparent electrode 5 and glass substrate 6 on the face of a light modulation layer 1 where the writing light 10 enters, and by successively forming a transparent electrode 7 and glass substrate 8 on the face of the light modulation layer 1 where the reading light 11 enters. A proper driving power supply 9 is connected between the transparent electrodes 5, 7. The light-shielding layer 3 consists of an amorphous silicon carbon film or an acrylic resin, methacrylic resin or conjugate resin composition having a crosslinked structure with dispersion of carbon black.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To set a short-circuit current as low as possible by providing a short- circuit switching means, and switching the short-circuit current to a small value in a state that an output voltage rises to a prescribed output voltage. CONSTITUTION:In the case an input voltage VIN is lower than a rated output voltage, an output signal of a comparator 10 becomes a high level, a transistor Tr7 in a short-circuit current switching circuit 5 conducts and a current flowing into a base of a transistor Tr6 of a protecting circuit 3 is shunted through a resistance R7, and a collector current of the transistor Tr6 decreases. There fore, a base current of a transistor Tr3 increases and a short-circuit current is set to a higher value than a rated output current. On the other hand, when the input voltage VIN rises and becomes higher than a rated output voltage, the short-circuit current is set to a lower value than the rated output current. In such a way, an output voltage can be raised surely to a prescribed output voltage, and also, the short-circuit current can be set as low as possible.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further enhance efficiency by providing an overcurrent detecting means for detecting an overcurrent in the forward direction of a rectifying element. SOLUTION: An integrated circuit 22 is, for example, a four-terminal regulator IC provided with terminals P1 to P4, and a control circuit 23 in the integrated circuit 22 adjusts the on/off duty ratio of a switching element SW and thereby keeps output voltage Vo at a desired voltage with stability. A catch diode D1 as a rectifying device has the characteristics that its forward voltage is increased as the value of transit current increases. If a potential Vc exceeds a reference voltage Vref2, an overcurrent detection comparator 31 in an overcurrent detection circuit 30 decides that the transit current value of the catch diode D1 has exceeded a passing current threshold. Therefore, a series resistance for overcurrent detection can be removed from an output line, and efficiency can be enhanced further.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power circuit which allows switching loss to be further reduced under light load. SOLUTION: This switching power circuit is designed such that under steady- state load, the voltage of a connecting point 10 is higher than a threshold and the voltage of a connecting point 7 is lower than the threshold, because of feedback from an output detection circuit 20. Therefore, during an oscillation frequency quiescent period, circuit 11 does not operate and an oscillation circuit 13 continuously outputs triangular waves. Under light load, the voltage of the connecting point 10 is lower than the threshold, and the voltage of the connecting point 7 is higher than the threshold because of feedback from the output detection circuit 20. Therefore, the oscillation frequency quiescent period circuit 11 is actuated, and the oscillation circuit 13 outputs triangular waves provided with the quiescent period of oscillation. As a result, a switching element Q1 performs a switching operation such that it remains out of operation in an interrupted state for a certain period of time.
