Abstract: A system for investigating rheological properties of grease, such as the pumpability, prepares a grease sample 34 with a predetermined quantity of grease, and has at least two sample holder plates 14, of which at least one is transparent, for holding the grease sample 34 by sandwiching it between the plates 14. There is a loading means 16, such as a weight, for generating a force acting on the grease sample 34 by pressing on the sample holder plates 14 such that a spot formed by the grease sample 34 on the sample holder plates 14 is expanded. The loading means 16 includes at least one transparent portion 32 enabling a continuous observation of the expansion of the spot while the predetermined force is acting on the grease sample 34. The system may include a camera 29a with a scale sheet (24, Fig 1) for recording the expansion of the spot over time.
