    Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a casting/rolling plant for producing hot-rolled metallic, particularly steel, strips (7) having great surface quality from slabs or flat thin bars (2, 2a) that are cast in a continuous casting process, descaling being performed based on a rotary descaling process. In order to take into account parameters which are not considered in prior art in addition to rotary descaling, the hydraulically oscillated permanent mold (9) travels along several different oscillation curves (16, 17, 18) while the oscillation marks are deep-cleaned by adjusting the oscillation pattern that is determined to be optimal for each casting material.

    Abstract: The cast strip is cooled in a first section (6) between the continuous casting die (3) and the mechanical deformation stage (5). The heat transfer coefficient lies between 2500 W/m 2>K and 20000 W/m 2>K. In the next section (7), temperature equalization commences within the metal strip, with or without reduced surface cooling. The result is surface heating to a temperature exceeding Ac3 or Ar3 (temperature arrest points representing transformations). Then in a third section (8), mechanical deformation (5) takes place. The heat transfer coefficient in the first section is 3000 W/m 2>K to 10000 W/m 2>K. Before cooling, the strip surfaces are cleaned. The first section is divided, for intermittent cooling. In the first subsection (6A) just after the continuous casting die, it is cooled intensively; in the following subsection (6B) cooling is reduced and then becomes more intensive. The mechanical deformation process (5), i.e. rolling or similar, causes straightening. Cooling in the first section is confined to the vertical section. The strand guidance (4) in this section is provided by metal rollers (10) with coolers (11) applying liquid to the strip surface. These can be moved vertically and/or horizontally. They can be oscillated. More fixed coolers are included. All coolers may be encased. The coolant is projected by nozzles. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding continuous casting plant.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic start method for continuous casting systems, preferably for strand thicknesses of 10 -150 mm and widths of up to 3.500 mm by regulating the casting level and by means of a closure system consisting of a slider system or a stopper system. In order to automatically start the continuous casting system, the following process data is detected: the temperature of the steel at the end of the treatment thereof in the secondary metallurgic range, T.LF (11); the heating-up time of the distribut or before casting begins, t.T0,5 (5.1); the inner distributor temperature after the distributor has been pre-heated, W.T (14), T.T (4); the weight of the steel in the distributor at the moment when the distributor is opened for casting to begin; the time required to fill the permanent mold, the time between the moment the permanent mold is opened and the strand (15) is removed; formation of a functional context for the product of T.LF (11), t.T0,5 (5.1), W.T (14), for example; formation of the functional relationshi p between filling time (15) and the product from ((11) (5.1) (14)); establishment of the desired filling time (15) for all successive castings a nd determination of the weight of the steel in the distributor equivalent to th e desired filling time when the temperature of the steel T.LF (11) is set in a n uncontrolled manner; pre-heating time of the distributor t.T (5) and distributor temperature T.T (4) directly before the kettle is opened in orde r to fill the distributor.
