Abstract: Eyewear device that includes two SoCs (602A, 602B) that share processing workload. Instead of using a single SoC located either on the left or right side of the eyewear device, the two SoCs have different assigned responsibilities to operate different devices and perform different processes to balance workload. In one example, the eyewear device utilizes a first SoC (602A) to operate all peripheral components, and a second SoC (602B) performing computational tasks. This is a low-risk architecture since the second SoC (602B) is not required to operate any of the peripherals, and it has low standby power since the second SoC (602B) can be fully shutdown in a low-power mode. The second SoC (602B) does not have any direct access to camera data, so an interprocessor communication bus continuously transmits camera buffer data for most augmented reality (AR) compute tasks. This configuration provides organized logistics to efficiently operate various features, and balanced power consumption.

Abstract: A method of dissipating heat generated by imaging devices and processing devices of a wearable electronic eyewear device includes providing a first heat sink thermally connecting the imaging devices to a frame of the eyewear device to sink heat to the frame and providing a second heat sink thermally connecting the processing devices to respective temples of the eyewear device to sink heat to the respective temples. The first and second heat sinks are thermally insulated from each other to direct the heat to different portions of the eyewear device. The processing devices may include a first co-processor disposed in a first temple connected to a first end of the frame and a second co-processor disposed in a second temple connected to a second end of the frame. The resulting eyewear device spreads the heat from heat generating devices over a larger area to minimize overall heating.

Abstract: Method to perform dynamic beamforming to reduce SNR in signals captured by head-wearable apparatus starts with microphones generating acoustic signals. Microphones are coupled to first stem of the apparatus and to second stem of the apparatus. First and second beamformers generate first and second beamformer signals, respectively. Noise suppressor attenuates noise content from the first beamformer signal and the second beamformer signal. Noise content from first beamformer signal are acoustic signals not collocated in second beamformer signal and noise content from second beamformer signal are acoustic signals not collocated in first beamformer signal. Speech enhancer generates clean signal comprising speech content from first noisesuppressed signal and second noise-suppressed signal. Speech content are acoustic signals collocated in first beamformer signal and second beamformer signal.

Instead of using a single SoC located either on the left or right side of the eyewear devices, the two SoCs have different assigned responsibilities to operate different devices and perform different processes to balance workload. In one example, the eyewear device utilizes a first SoC (602A) to operate a first color camera, a second color camera, a first display, and a second display. The first SoC (602A) and a second SoC (602B) are configured to selectively operate a first and second computer vision (CV) camera algorithms. The first SoC (602A) is configured to perform visual odometry (VIO), track hand gestures of the user, and provide depth from stereo images. This configuration provides organized logistics to efficiently operate various features, and balanced power consumption.

Abstract: Eyewear devices that include two system of a chip (SoC) (602A, 602B) that share processing workload. Two SoCs having similar assigned responsibilities operate the same types of peripheral components and perform similar processes to balance workload. A first SoC (602A) operates a first color camera, a first computer vision (CV) camera, and a first display, and performs three-dimensional graphics and compositing. A second SoC (602B) operates a second color camera, a second CV camera, and a second display. Each of the SoCs have an operating system (OS), CV algorithms, and visual odometry (VIO), e.g., for tracking hand gestures of the user, and providing depth from stereo images from the color cameras. This configuration provides simplified organized logistics to efficiently operate various features, and balanced power consumption.
