Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a backlight for a small-sized display which effectively utilize light from a light source and condenses it on a front surface. CONSTITUTION:As to a box-like backlight in which a fluorescent light source 14 is housed, and which has a diffusion plate 12a for diffusing the light from the light source so as to uniformly irradiate a forward part on its front surface, the inner surface 14 of the back wall 12b of the box-like backlight is constructed to be projected backward. It is conceivable to make the front wall of the backlight have the shape of a convex lens or form it of a Fresnel lens, or to form the layer of fluorescent paint applied on the inner surface of the back wall to become thicker as it approaches to the circumference of the back wall.

The recorded details in the large-capacity memory 17 are displayed on a display section 3 via a decoder 21 and a switch/IO 22.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate position matching with a compound lenticular lens and to prevent flicker from being generated by simultaneously driving the picture element group for left eye and picture element group for right eye of the display device. CONSTITUTION:Corresponding to a synchronizing signal from a synchronizing signal generating circuit 1, a camera 2 for left eye outputs video information for left eye, and a camera 3 for right eye outputs video information for right eye. A monitor device 10 is equipped with a liquid crystal display panel 27 for which a picture element group 27L for left eye longitudinally arranging picture elements for left eye and a picture element group 27R for right eye longitudinally arranging picture elements for right eye are respectively horizontally and alternately arranged, and a compound lenticular lens 30 is provided so that a focal point can be set on the front surface. Then, a stereo-scopic image can be obtained by displaying images for left eye and right eye on the liquid crystal display panel 27 by simultaneously driving the picture element group 27 for left eye and the picture element group 27R for right eye according to the video information.

CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display 12 which is built in a view finder 11 of a video camera 10 and outputs the video information obtainable from the image pickup element of a camera body 10a is constituted of a color liquid crystal panel 2 of a transmission type mounted with polarizing plates 2A, 2B on the front and rear surfaces, a white-opaque plate 3 disposed on the rear surface side of this color liquid crystal panel 2, a back light 4 disposed to face this white-opaque plate 3, and a scattering plate 5 of a transmission type which is disposed on the front surface of the color liquid crystal panel 2 and has a scattering surface 5a having microcompound eye lens effect to generate plural pieces of images on the front surface. The black matrix as the mesh-like boundaries between the respective picture elements of the liquid crystal display 12 is obscured in this way and the entire part of the image is relatively well visible down to the detailed parts.

At the optical system 3, on the respectively reflected image forming surfaces (F' and F''), the light receiving surfaces of a second color CCD image pick-up element 21 and a third color CCD image pick-up element 2r respectively arranged. Further, these CCD image pick-up elements 21 and 2r whose light receiving surfaces are respectively dislocated to the outside, are arranged.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain thickness reduction and high-brightness output at the same time by arranging a fluorescent lamp in a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped groove 11a is formed in the light guide plate 11 formed of a transparent acryl plate so that the U-shaped fluorescent lamp 10 is fitted therein; and the fluorescent lamp 10 is arranged in the groove 11a. A diffusion coat processing layer 11b is formed at the back surface part of the light guide plate 11 by vapor deposition, silk printing, etc., so as to reflect light. A lighting curtain 12 is formed by forming a U-shaped vapor-deposited part 12a of a transparent sheet along the fluorescent lamp 10 and the direct light from the fluorescent lamp 10 is dispersed to some extent. The light outputted by the fluorescent lamp 10 is therefore diffused by the light guide plate 11 in the surface direction, uniformed by the lighting curtain 12 and diffusion sheet for transmission, and outputted by face lighting.
