A display apparatus includes a frame and an image display apparatus for a left eye 3 and an image display apparatus for a right eye which are attached to the frame. Each image display apparatus 30 includes an image forming apparatus 40 and an optical system 50 configured to guide an image from the image forming apparatus 40 to a pupil of an observer 10. The optical system 50 includes a reflecting mirror 51 and a lens group 52. The image forming apparatus 40 is curved. A normal NLL of the reflecting mirror 51 included in the optical system of the image display apparatus for a left eye and a normal NLR of the reflecting mirror 51 included in the optical system of the image display apparatus for a right eye intersect with each other in a space on an opposite side of the observer 10 with respect to the reflecting mirror 51.

Provided is an image display system which displays a wide viewing angle image while suppressing VR sickness. When the viewing angle FOVO of an original image provided from an image output device (200) is greater than the viewing angle FOVD of an image observed by a user wearing an image display device (300), the image output device (200) cuts out a viewing angle FOVD from the original image and sends this to the image display device (300). Further, when the viewing angle FOVD of the image observed by the user wearing the image display device (300) is greater than or equal to the viewing angle FOVO of the original image provided from the image output device (200), the image output device (200) sends the original image as-is to the image display device (300).

A display apparatus includes a frame, an image display apparatus attached to the frame, and a distortion correction apparatus. The image display apparatus includes an image forming apparatus and an optical system configured to guide an image from the image forming apparatus to a pupil of an observer. When it is assumed that a direction, which corresponds to a first direction of the image, of the image forming apparatus is an X-direction and a direction, which corresponds to a second direction of the image which direction is different from the first direction, of the image forming apparatus is a Y-direction, the image forming apparatus is curved in the X-direction and/or in the Y-direction. The distortion correction apparatus corrects an input image signal to correct a distortion of an image to be observed.

There is provided a display apparatus including: a frame 20 that is mounted on a head part of a viewer; and an image display device 30 that is mounted on the frame 20. The image display device 30 includes (A) an image forming device 40, and (B) an optical system 50 that guides an image, which originates from the image forming device 40, into a pupil of a viewer. The image forming device 40 is curved along an X direction and/or a Y direction. The image display device 30 further includes an image-forming-device-to-optical-system distance adjustment unit 90 that adjusts a distance between the image forming device 40 and the optical system 50.

To provide an excellent photographing apparatus including a plurality of cameras and capable of photographing a wide angle image with less parallax. View point positions (camera positions) of video cameras 101 to 106 are radially arranged at predetermined angular intervals on a horizontal concentric circle about a vertical reference axis that passes a predetermined reference point. The video cameras are fixed in such a manner that camera principal-axis directions of the video cameras are individually directed outward and upward from a horizontal plane by a predetermined elevation angle T vu , with the result that upper end portions of a vertical angle of view overlap. Therefore, photographing can be performed uninterruptedly even in an overhead direction without providing a camera that is directed right above.

Provided is an image display device configured to display a free viewpoint image that tracks a movement of observer's head and trunk. The line-of-sight direction and trunk orientation of the user are individually oriented in a free viewpoint space displayed on a display device 500 based on posture information of the user's head and trunk, which are respectively obtained from a head motion tracking device 200 and a trunk motion tracking device 300. A behavior that is natural in real space can be represented by moving a line of sight to a front direction of the trunk on a space in a state where the line of sight does not match the front direction of the trunk. An unnatural UI that goes straight to the line-of-sight direction is prevented regardless of orientation of the trunk.

To record and reproduce sound and an image so that content which entertains a viewer and which prevents the viewer from being bored is provided while realistic sensation is provided. Upon recording, image information shot by a plurality of cameras is recorded together with position and posture information of each camera, and acoustic information from a plurality of sound sources is recorded together with position information of each sound source. Upon reproduction, an image at a position of a viewer (eye direction) is reproduced, and a sound image is localized at the position of the viewer so that content which entertains the viewer and which prevents the viewer from being bored is provided while sound with realistic sensation is provided.
