Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a control method combining moving object detection and face detection for a user in order to execute power saving control effectively with a proper accuracy. SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with: an imager for capturing moving pictures of a predetermined range in an image display direction; a moving object detector for detecting existence/absence of a moving object at the predetermined range in the image display direction; an image analyzer for analyzing the moving pictures captured by the imager to detect existence/absence of a face; and a power controller. The through respectively different patterns according to a plurality of modes established by combining existence/absence of the face detected by the image analyzer and existence/absence of the moving object detected by the moving object detector. Light emitting elements 51B to 56B to respectively illuminate the function marks 41B to 46B and to display the corresponding function marks 41B to 46B, and a control circuit 27 to control lighting on/off of the light emitting elements 51B to 56B are installed. The control circuit 27 lights up the emitting elements corresponding to the function marks 41B to 46B arranged in the vicinity of the usable operation keys among the emitting elements 51B to 56B, when the next function is realized under the present state.

SOLUTION: A microprocessor 24 controls a variable oscillator 25 to apply variable control to a frequency of a communication clock C3 of a digital communication transmission circuit 23. A PLL circuit 32 generates a communication clock C4 for a digital communication reception circuit 31 and a panel driver clock C5 of a panel driver circuit 33 following to the communication clock C3. The microprocessor 24 applies variable control to the communication clock C3 so as to apply variable control to the frequency of the panel driver clock C5 so that the frequency of the panel driver clock C5 and harmonic frequencies being an integer multiple of the frequency of the panel driver clock C5 are not overlapped with the frequency of a selected broadcast channel.

Consequently, during the monitoring display of the power-saving effect, the original power-saving effect when the monitoring display of the power-saving effect is not performed can be displayed.
