There is provided a method of controlling communication for a communication system for connecting a plurality of electronic apparatuses through a communication control bus and allowing data communication between those electronic apparatuses wherein each of the electronic apparatuses performs connection control through the execution of a connection control command carried out by writing connection control information in a predetermined storage means of its own or another electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatuses which attempt to write the connection control information transmit the write instructions in a predetermined storage means. The storage means which has received the write instructions executes only the earliest write instruction and transmits responses indicating whether the execution of respective write instructions is successful or not.

In order to ensure a bus resource during time zones preset by timers of electronic devices interconnected through a serial bus and to transmit data, a programmed operation setting section (22) receives information on setting of programmed operations for bringing predetermined devices connected to a bus into predetermined statuses at predetermined times. A programmed operation executing section (23) brings the predetermined devices connected to the bus into the predetermined statuses at the predetermined times according to the information inputted into the programmed operation setting section (22) or the information stored in a programmed operation storage section (24). In the programmed operation storage section (24), the inputted information on setting of the programmed operation is stored. A bus resource programming section (25) acquires or releases the bus resource according to the input into the programmed operation setting section (22) or the stored contents in the programmed operation storage section (24). In a bus resource programming plan storage section (26), the plan for acquiring or releasing the bus resource is stored according to information on programming of the operation of the devices connected to the bus.

A communications system comprises items of equipment connected via a bus capable of transferring combinations of control signals and AV signals as packets while providing an environment which is the same as an environment where connections are made using analog signal lines. A register decided by an address is taken to be a virtual plug for each item of equipment. A plug enable for an input plug is set to 1 and a synchronous communication packet for the AV signal from the channel set by the channel number is received. A plug enable for an output plug is set to one and the synchronous communication packet for the information signal is sent to the channel set by the channel number at a transmission speed designated by the DR (Data Rate) at the bandwidth expressed by "Bandwidth".

Un método de comunicación para conectar una pluralidad de aparatos electrónicos mediante una multilínea de control de comunicaciones y para realizar la comunicación de datos entre dichos aparatos electrónicos, caracterizado por las operaciones de: ejecutar una orden de control de conexión durante el control de conexión por parte de cada uno de los aparatos electrónicos inscribiendo información de control de conexión en medios de almacenamiento predeterminados de su propio aparato u otro aparato electrónico; transmitir instrucciones de inscripción desde aparatos electrónicos que van a inscribir dicha información de control de conexión en dichos medios de almacenamiento; ejecutar solamente la instrucción de inscripción que se ha presentado antes en los medios de almacenamiento que han recibido dichas instrucciones de inscripción; y transmitir desde los medios de almacenamiento respuestas que indican si la ejecución de las instrucciones de inscripción ha tenido éxito o no.

The device has a receiver stage for receiving the data transmitted over the bus (1) in packet form, an assessment stage for extracting copyright information from data delivered by the receiver stage and for assessing the extracted copyright information to determine whether the content data may be copied or not and an output controller. The output controller receives the assessment result and outputs information data corresp. to the assessment result. Independent claims are also included for a data processing method and for a device for receiving coded data.

In a system wherein a plurality of electronic apparatuses are connected by a communications control bus for communication between those electronic apparatuses, each of the electronic apparatuses selects an input apparatus by sending an inquiry to all other apparatuses in the system on whether they can output data, displaying the apparatuses which respond that output is possible as candidate input apparatuses, and selecting the input apparatus from among the candidate input apparatuses. For an electronic apparatus which can not output data, the reason for such impossibility to output data can be displayed at either the apparatus incapable of outputting data or the apparatus which is to select an input apparatus. Input apparatus selection can be also performed using a list constituted by still images created from the image data supplied by other apparatuses.
