One of the biasing blade springs (35, 40) is formed with two spring members through which the current is supplied to the drive coil (51).

The coils (76) are respectively disposed on the barrel unit (66) at two positions where the coils (76) face the magnets (74).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a levitation-type floppy disk drive which prevents a disk from being damaged by an edge at a recessed part. SOLUTION: Two rails 2a, 2b protrude on a face in which a slider 1 faces a disk. When the disk is turned at high speed, the slider 1 is levitated. A head chip 6 is assembled into the rear side of one out of the rails 2a, 2b, e.g. the rail 2b. In a state that the slider 1 is levitated, a signal is recorded/-reproduced. In order to set the interval (the levitation amount) between the face of the disk and the gap of the head chip 6 to a prescribed value, slots 7a, 7b are formed nearly in central positions of the rails 2a, 2b. An angle formed by the face in which the slider 1 faces the disk and by side faces of the slots 7a, 7b is set at an obtuse angle. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the disk from being damaged by edges at the slots 7a, 7b. In addition, the depth D of the slots 7a, 7b is selected to be a value between 4 to 20 μm, and the levitation amount is made proper.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record/reproduce data on a standard recording density floppy disk and a high recording density floppy disk. SOLUTION: Two rails 2a and 2b are projected on the surface of a slider 1, opposite to the disk. A head chip 5 of a lower order mode for recording/ reproducing data in contact with the disk is set in the middle position of the rail 2a, while a head chip 6 of an upper order mode is set in the rear side of the rail 2b. The head chip 6 is brought into contact with the disk to record/ reproduce data. When the disk is rotated at high speed, the slider 1 is floated up. Under the floating state of the slider 1, a signal is recorded/reproduced. In order to make a space (a floating amt.) between the disk recording surface and a gap of the head chip 6 a prescribed value, slots 7a and 7b are provided in approximately the middle positions of the rails 2a and 2b. The slot 7a is formed by cutting a place between a recording and reproducing head 51 of the head chip 5 and an erasing head 52.
