Abstract: A reel flange for a tape reel in a tape recording system which has an annularly-shaped projecting portion which merges into a recessed annularly-shaped control portion. A plurality of inwardly-directed rib members extending inwardly from the projecting portion into the recessed central portion to aid in the alignment of the reel flanges when stacked during manufacture. Openings in the recessed central portion receive mating pins located on a cylindrical projecting portion intermediate the flanges of the reel to secure the flange to the projecting portion. The flange further defines a stacking-pin receiving opening with an alignment lug. The thickness of the projecting portion of the reel flange may also decrease with increasing radial distance from its center.

Abstract: A structure of a tape cassette for use in recording/reproducing apparatus, wherein the space within which a pair of reels is housed is formed by first and second cassette halves which are mutually engaged to construct a casing of the tape cassette. A reel press spring having three or more mounting holes aligned roughly perpendicular to the longest axis of the half is attached to the internal surface of the first cassette half, with at least one of the mounting holes engaged with a mounting pin projecting from the inner surface of the first cassette half. In addition, both ends of the reel press spring along its longest axis are disposed such that they diverge from the inner surface of the cassette half and come in contact with the reels. The multiple holes of the spring allow the spring to be mounted on a diversity of first cassette halves whose mounting pins are positioned differently.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a tape reel in which a thin flange portion is formed by reducing a thickness of each of front and rear flange surfaces of the tape reel and a thick portion having a thickness larger than that of the thin flange portion is formed on a plurality of places of an outer periphery of the flange portion. When the tape reel is molded by using a molding metal mold, a pin is inserted into the molding metal mold at a portion corresponding to a portion where a resin is filled into the thin flange portion last, and air and gas within a cavity are discharged from a spacing formed between the molding metal mold and the pin. Thus, the occurrence of short mold and weld line on the thin portion of the tape reel thus molded can be avoided and a rotational fluctuation of the reel flange surface can be avoided. Also, the present invention is directed to a tape reel in which front and rear surface portions of each of upper and lower flanges are formed as thin flange portions by uniformly reducing the thickness of each of the front and rear surface portions thereof except outer peripheral edge portions thereof and radial tape position restricting ribs 7 are formed on tape contact flange surfaces of the upper and lower flanges. Thus, the flanges can be prevented from being warped even when the thicknesses thereof are reduced. The tape reel can be made light in weight and the material therefor can be saved. Also, the tape reel of the present invention can achieve a similar action to that of the conventional tape reel.
