Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the dispersion of resonance frequencies to avoid resonance with outside vibration and make production easy by pressing a frame part from the inside to the outside, and pressing the vicinity of the joining point of the frame part from the inside to the outside to deform the whole frame. SOLUTION: An elastic bottom supporting part 7 of a frame 3 is depressed from the inside to the outside, and the vicinity of the joining point of a metal thin plate holding frame part 6 is depressed from the outside to the inside. As the depressing point of the elastic bottom supporting frame part 7, a plurality of depressing points may be set in addition to the central point of the elastic bottom supporting frame part 7 for more uniform deformation. The metal thin plate holding frame part 6 is uniformly deformed, tension applied to an electrode is made almost uniform, and the dispersion of resonance frequency is reduced. Since the elastic bottom supporting frame part 7 is depressed from the inside, the interference of a fixing device for fixing the electrode with a pressing device for applying the depressing force is not produced, and the production is made relatively easy.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a color selection electrode and a frame for the color selection electrode, capable of giving homogenous curvature at the time of welding an aperture grill. SOLUTION: A flame 31 formed like a easing out of a pair of parallel frame side members 33 and a pair of parallel jointing members 17 for connecting both ends of the frame side members 33 to each other, is subjected to pressure in a direction for the frame side members 33 as a pair to near each other. With this pressing state maintained, both ends of an aperture grill are welded to the extension surface 19 of the frame side members 33. Thereafter, the pressing force is released and the aperture grill is provided between the flame side members 33 as a pair. Regarding this method for manufacturing a color screening electrode, the extension surface 19 of the frame side members 33 is machined to a prescribed shape, with the frame 31 subjected to the same pressure as in the pressing condition.

By pressing the elastic bottom supporting frame part 7, a metal thin plate supporting frame part 6 is uniformly deformed, and when a metal thin plate is placed and fixed, the tension applied to the metal thin plate is made almost constant, and the dispersion of resonance frequencies is reduced. The tension in each part of an electrode after the pressing force is released is made uniform, and since the frame part is pressed from the inside, the interference of a fixing device of the electrode with a pressing device for applying the pressing force is not produced, and production is made easy.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid emission deterioration of a cathode by frame body processing by using a chemical conversion product which does not contain a halogen compound such as chlorine (C1) causing emission deterioration of a CRT cathode. SOLUTION: Examination for the cause of emission deterioration of a CRT cathode ascertain that a residue 15 of Cl contained in a cleaning liquid 12 used in the cleaning process of a frame body is struck into a clearance of a scale part 16 generated in shot blasting, and that a cutting oil 13 or a rust preventive oil 14 used in the next step penetrated into the clearance and is discharged as a gas by irradiation of an electron beam after completing a CRT to exercise an influence upon an oxide of a cathode. Therefore, a chemical conversion product necessary for processing of a frame body 2 does not contain Cl, and a water-soluble emulsifier or the like is used for the cutting oil 13 or the rust preventive oil 14 so that it does not remain when washing. Moreover, a shot blasting condition is selected so that the scale part 16 is not produced and a residue of the chemical conversion product does not penetrate into the clearance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To relax the thermal creep phenomenon of a grid element assembly during a heat treatment by adhering metal materials having a thermal expansion coefficient larger than that of elastic supporting materials to surfaces of a pair of elastic supporting material opposite to a beam-stretched surface of the grid element assembly. CONSTITUTION:Metal materials 9 having a thermal expansion coefficient larger than that of elastic supporting materials 3, 4 are respectively adhered to surfaces of a pair of elastic supporting materials 3, 4 opposite to a beam-stretched surface of a grid element assembly 6. When a color selective electrode is influenced thermaly in a heat treatment process such as photographic processing or thermal sealing or the like, a frame 5 is bended for deformation to the direction for reducing the tension of the grid element assembly 6 by a difference between thermal expansion factors of the elastic supporting materials 3, 4 and the metal materials 9, and the stress applying on the grid element assembly 6 is reduced. As a result, the thermal creep phenomenon of the grid clement assembly 6 is relaxed, and the tension of the grid element assembly is maintained high under the ordinary temperature condition after the heat treatment.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent convergence error during manufacture and use by forming the fitting part of a support spring for a frame from a substance having the same coefficient of thermal expansion as a support pin, and by forming the supporting part from a substance having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than the fitting part. CONSTITUTION:A color selecting electrode 2 is fixed to a frame 9 and supported through fitting of a support pin 12 in truncated cone furnished in a panel 1 with a fitting hole 11c bored in the fitting part 11a of a support spring 11 installed through a support 10 consisting of a material displacing through the action of the heat of a bimetal etc., to the frame 9. The pin 12 consists of a substance having a lower coefficient of thermal expansion such as ceramic. The fitting part 11a of the spring 11 consists of No.1 substance having the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the pin 12 such as SUS420 J2, while the supporting part 11b consists of No.2 substance having a greater coefficient of thermal expansion than the fitting part 11a such as SUS301. This prevents convergence error due to dislocation of the color selecting electrode during manufacture, and temperature compensation of chromatic dislocation during use will become practicable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the damper shadow of a damper wire as a color selection electrode, by providing tentative holding engagement means in spring members, on which the damper wire is secured, and by changing the position of the damper wire after manufacturing a fluorescent screen. CONSTITUTION:Numerous grill elements 3 are anchored to both the horizontal bars 2 of a frame 13 and held down by a damper wire 4 attached to spring members 21 secured to supports 5, so that an aperture grill 11 is constructed as the color selection electrode of a cathode-ray tube. The spring members 21 are provided with grooves 22 as holding engagement means for tentatively holding the damper wire 4. When a fluorescent surface is manufactured, the damper wire 4 is tentatively held in the grooves 22. After the fluorescent surface is manufactured, the damper wire 4 is returned to its normal position. The position of the shadow of the damper wire 4 at the time of the manufacturing of the fluorescent screen and that of the shadow of the wire at the time of electron beam scanning are thus made different from each other. For that reason, the damper shadow of the wire 4 can be easily eliminated to enhance the quality of the image on the tube.
