Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a storage management system capable of dealing with even the increase of data amounts under operation without increasing a backup time at low costs. SOLUTION: This file management device for virtually managing a storage system configured by combining a plurality of types of storage media whose physical characteristics are different as a single storage is provided with a hierarchy management part (a) for operating the unitary management of each storage medium configuring the storage system and the storage medium of an application server connected through a network by logical hierarchical divisions and a movement managing part (b) for moving data between the hierarchical divisions according to predetermined movement conditions. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that performance is not obtained as expected in a system adopting a hierarchical storage management method. SOLUTION: A storage system obtained by combining a plurality of kinds of storage media different in physical characteristic is managed as a virtual single storage. In order to accomplish this, one file is divided into actual data and identification information for performing access to the actual data, and the identification information for access is managed in connection with a file system. The file is hierarchically managed in response to the sections of usage frequencies, so as to manage the movement of the file between the sections. When the actual data of the file is moved to the storage media corresponding to the low-order section, the actual data is simultaneously backed up to another storage media corresponding to the low-order section. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that performance is not obtained as expected in a system adopting a hierarchical storage management method. SOLUTION: A plurality of kinds of storage media different in physical characteristic are combined in a storage system. When "data to be used" is required to be moved from a primary storage to be accessed at high speed with high reliability in the system, movement is redundantly performed to each of an access property priority storage and a reliability priority storage with large capacity. The system provides a lower cost and higher access property compared with a case where a system is organized only with a primary storage and a keeping storage. Besides, the system can flexibly cope with the increase of an amount of data in operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit high-speed recording which takes the security of data into consideration by reading out security information plural times in an assigned position of a magnetic tape in accordance with a position information on a magnetic tape recorded on the magnetic tape when the set security information is stored and inputted user data is recorded. SOLUTION: When a cartridge 130 is inserted into a tape streamer, the data stored in a non-volatile memory of a memory label 131 stuck to be cartridge 130 is read out and is stored in an OP-RAM 118. User key information is then read out of the magnetic tape 107 of the cartridge 130. The user information is defined as the discharge region of the magnetic tape 107. The reading out of the user key information is made possible in the state that the magnetic tape 107 is taken up on a rotary head 106. The collation of the user key information is executed and when all of the information coincides, a load command is sent from a host computer.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely send user data to a host device, for example, even when the invention is applied to tape streamer for backing up data of a server or the like, and an error occurs in reproduced data, regarding a data processor, a data recording method, and a data reproducing method. SOLUTION: A recording track recording unnecessary data is formed before/after the boundary of joined writing, and an error is ignored depending on the presence/absence of an identifier of joined writing in an error-detected recording track. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device and bad spot detecting method which are capable of detecting bad spots more surely than heretofore when applied to tape streamers for backing up the data of, for example, a server, etc. SOLUTION: Identification information of the bad spots is recorded in longitudinal tracks 10C.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify an operation backing up data of same contents into a plurality of magnetic tapes, and furthermore, to shorten the time of the backing up operation being applied to a magnetic record reproducing device and an information processing device, such as an operation by which the data are backed up using a computer. SOLUTION: A plurality of record reproducing parts 8, 9 perform download processes simultaneously in parallel, reproduce the data simultaneously in parallel, and upload them selectively.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device and bad spot detecting method which are capable of detecting bad spots more surely than heretofore when applied to a tape streamer for backing up the data of, for example, a server, etc. SOLUTION: The data is recorded in such a manner that the bad spots may be specified by any tracks or track sets in the recording units succeeding to at least the bad spots and the bad spots are detected by the data recorded in the manner described above.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably send user data to a host device even when an error occurs in data reproduced by applying a data processor, a data recording method and a data reproducing method to a tape streamer for backing up data of a server, etc. SOLUTION: This invention neglects an error by the continuity of the first identifier assigned to a recording track before and after a recording track where an error is detected and judgment of the attribute of an adjacent recording track, forms a recording track where unnecessary data is recorded in front and rear of the boundary of connect-writing, and neglects the error corresponding to the presence and absence of the identifier of connect-writing to the recording track where the error is detected.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the access after the insertion of a cassette cartridge higher in speed by executing control in such a manner that the data indicating the file breaks read out repetitively plural times are recorded on a magnetic tape to form a region and the discharge of the magnetic tape is executed in the prescribed position within the region. SOLUTION: A tape streamer repetitively writes the same file mark plural times and users the formed region as the discharge region of the cartridge when the writing of the file mark is instructed. In this forming operation this discharge region is built during the processing of writing the user data and is made common with retry processing, by which a need for such processing as to evade the discharge region is eliminated. The discharge region is formed so as to include a damage zones in the region for 10 block-components where, for example, the file mark FM 1 is written. The discharge insertion position where the discharge and insertion of the cartridge are made possible during mid-way of the tape is set at approximately the central part of the discharge region.
