Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate retrieval of an image of a queue review and to attain high speed dubbing in the case of reproducing data of a variable bit rate by a method such as the MPEG 2 in the helical scanning recording and reproducing device that records data of a computer or the like on a tape medium by helical scanning. SOLUTION: In a helical scanning recording and reproducing device 6 in which a difference between a recording rate and a data transfer speed is eliminated through intermittent drive of a tape and the utilizing efficiency of the tape is improved, data are continuously reproduced at a constant speed without intermittent reproduction in the case of reproduction of the MPEG 2 queue. In the case of dubbing, data are continuously reproduced at a constant speed without adopting intermittent tape feed. A reproduction data storage section made up of a hard disk unit or the like to store just preceding reproduction data is provided in a buffer section 62, and a review image is displayed by using reproduction data stored in the reproduction data storage section in the case of a review.

In this case, a cleaning brush 43 formed into a narrow rectangular shape out of a film-like member with a large number of slits is fitted in a visor-like pattern above the contact pin 33 to the information detecting body 30, and when the detecting terminal plate 40 of the cassette is lowered from the upper part to the information detecting body 30, the cleaning brush 43 is elastically deformed to rub the detecting terminal plate 40 of the cassette and the contact pin 33 of the information detecting body 30 respectively so as to perform its cleaning operation.

By controlling a tension regulator mechanism, a locking piece 11 on a chassis 1 for locking one end of a tension regulator spring 12 is moved to a tension regulator arm 5 and by reducing the expansion of the tension regulator spring 12, the tension of a band brake 10 is reduced. Thus, the reproducing device is provided, wherein a contact force between the recording tape 308 and a rotary head 2 is weakened, the damage of the recording tape 308 is prevented and the resistance of the rotary head 2 is improved.

By restricting the moving range of the control pin 30 by the elastic body 44 and the stopper wall, the rotating range of the tension arm 30 is controlled by the stopper arm 40.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To evade hindrance to a tape loading operation by releasing turning restriction on a supply side tape reel and drawing out a tape from the supply side in place of a take-up side tape reel. Then, the tape T is traveled via a rotary head cylinder 12 from the reel 1 to 2 or the reel 2 to 1. Then, when the tape is directed from the reel 1 to 2, a recording operation, a reproducing operation and a fast forward reproducing operation, etc., are performed, and when the tape is directed from the reel 2 to 1, a rewinding reproducing operation, etc., are performed. Upon completion of these operations, the tape T is taken up in synchronization with movement of movable guide posts G1-G8 to their unloading positions after regulating turning of the reel base 17.
