Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate retrieval of an image of a queue review and to attain high speed dubbing in the case of reproducing data of a variable bit rate by a method such as the MPEG 2 in the helical scanning recording and reproducing device that records data of a computer or the like on a tape medium by helical scanning. SOLUTION: In a helical scanning recording and reproducing device 6 in which a difference between a recording rate and a data transfer speed is eliminated through intermittent drive of a tape and the utilizing efficiency of the tape is improved, data are continuously reproduced at a constant speed without intermittent reproduction in the case of reproduction of the MPEG 2 queue. In the case of dubbing, data are continuously reproduced at a constant speed without adopting intermittent tape feed. A reproduction data storage section made up of a hard disk unit or the like to store just preceding reproduction data is provided in a buffer section 62, and a review image is displayed by using reproduction data stored in the reproduction data storage section in the case of a review.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing apparatus which has a cassette loading device realizing an easy ejection of a cassette by rendering a cassette holding length longer upon the cassette ejection even for a small cassette having a short depth. SOLUTION: In this device, a cassette inserted from a cassette inserting slot is moved to a loading position for recording/reproducing operations and an eject position for an ejecting operation while being accommodated into a cassette holder 20 which concurrently moves with a movement of driving sliders 5 and 6. In this case, a cassette pushing arm 50 is provided at an upper frame 7 of the driving sliders 5 and 6. When the cassette is moved at the eject position, the cassette is pushed out of the cassette holder 20 by a reverse operation of the cassette pushing arm 50 and a spring force of an toggle spring 53 as an assisting force. Thus, an ejecting amount of the cassette is rendered large with respect to the cassette inserting slot, thereby realizing an easy ejection of the cassette.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely perform operation when data broadcasting is received by performing the data broadcasting reception by supplying a control code required for data broadcasting reception from a data processor to a reception part. SOLUTION: When the processing of switching to a satellite internet is started in a personal computer(PC) system 30, the PC system 30 sends the control code for reading the machine type code of an IRD 10 to the side of that IRD and the machine type code is read and processed. Thus, since the read control code of the machine type is transmitted and the operation of the IRD 10 is controlled, when the PC system is to receive a satellite internet service, reception can be easily performed only by operation on the side of the PC system 30 without necessity for a user to perform operation such as the network switching or channel switching of the IRD 10. Therefore, the operation of the user is simplified, the accident for the user to erroneously set a reception channel can be prevented and the satellite internet service can be surely received.

A program guide information storage means 1d stores program guide information when the received broadcast signal is the program guide information. A program information storage means 1e stores the received broadcast signal when the signal is a conventional program. A retrieval means 1f retrieves an item corresponding to a retrieval condition entered by an entry section 6 from the program guide information storage means 1d and outputs it to an output means 1g. The output means 1g displays the retrieval result fed from the retrieval means 1f on a display device 5.

Then the moving picture database 9 is retrieved on the basis of the obtained ID to acquire moving picture data denoting an outline corresponding to the ID. Control information to specify a distribution destination is added to the moving picture data and the information is transferred to the up-link system 2, where the information is multiplexed on data of a substantial digital broadcast. Thus, the receiver 5 separates, extracts moving picture data denoting an outline of the prescribed program and displays the data.
