    Abstract: PURPOSE: To turn steady current consumption to zero without losing characteristics by providing a control circuit with a switch for blocking a current from a discharge current oscillator having control node capacitance when a power transistor(TR) is in an OFF state. CONSTITUTION: When a power TR PW is in an OFF state, the gate voltage of a TR M5 is also reduced. In the case of a switch OFF phase, the resistance of the TR M5 is increased and mismatch between currents I1, I2 is generated. The generation of a mis-matching trouble can be removed by determining the dimensions of the TR M5 so that large mismatch is generated when the power TR PW is slipped out of the saturation. Thereby the TR M5 operates as a switch to be opened when the gate voltage of the power TR PW is dropped less than the threshold voltage of the TR M5 and turns off a branch I2. Consequently the speed characteristics of the current oscillator I2 and the switch M5 can be held.

    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to supply a method and a circuit simple and accurate enough to protect at least one transistor against exceeding a complex limit implying processing of multiple electrical quantities associated with said transistor. Since in many practical cases said complex limit corresponds to the product of at least two quantities, typically a current and a voltage, the circuit in accordance with the present invention generates electrical signals basically proportional to said quantities, multiplies them, compares the product with a reference signal corresponding to the limit placed on the transistor and acts on the transistor in such a way that said limit is not exceeded. Advantageously the multiplication of currents can be provided simply by means of connection in series of bipolar transistor junctions at which said currents are supplied to the respective emitters. In this case it is additionally advantageous to generate the reference signal by means of connection in series of the bipolar transistor junctions in such a manner as to have an analogous behaviour of the multiplier and the generator.

    Abstract: The turn-off delay time of a low-side driver (output power transistor), may be independently reduced and eventually made identical to the turn-on delay time by employing an auxiliary current generator that may be controlled by the same switching signal that controls a current generator employed for discharging the control node of the low-side driver, in order to provide an augmented discharging current during a first phase of a turn-off process. The contribution to the capacitance discharge current provided by said third current generator is automatically interrupted by means responsive to the voltage present on the driving node of the low-side driver, when it approaches saturation.
