Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst useful for ammoxidation of propane or propylene to acrylonitrile at a low cost, by producing a compound having a specified formula, reacting a mixture of water-soluble vanadate and Sb2 O3 , and then heating and drying the resultant reaction products. SOLUTION: The catalyst having a formula; Va Sbb Mm Nn Ox ; is produced. In the formula, (a) stands for 0.01-2, (b) for 0.5-4, (m) for 0.01-3, (n) for 0-1, M for Sn, Ti, Fe, Cu, Mn, Ga, Co, or their mixtures. N for Li, Mg, Sr, Ca, Ba, Co, or their mixtures. While being stirred for a sufficient time to produce a catalyst precursor, a water-soluble vanadate, Sb2 O3 , and aqueous mixture containing M promoting agent if necessary are heated to the temperature range from its reflux temperature to 250 deg.C in the atmospheric pressure. Then, the obtained catalyst precursor is dried and after that, the resultant precursor is calcined to produced a desired catalyst.

Abstract: A method of preparing a VaSbbMmNnOx catalyst useful in the ammoxidation of a C2-C5 hydrocarbon to its corresponding alpha , beta unsaturated nitrile comprising heating an aqueous mixture comprising V2O5 and Sb2O3 at a temperature above about 100 DEG to 250 DEG C, preferably 110 DEG to 175 DEG C, most preferably 120 DEG to 160 DEG C, under autogenous pressure with agitation to form a catalyst precursor, drying the catalyst precursor and calcining the catalyst precursor to form the finished catalyst.

The particle size diameter of the particulate catalyst material preferably has a range of 60% of the particles being below 200 microns (0.2 mm) with no more than 40% of the particles being below 40 microns (0.04 mm).

Abstract: A method for preparing a molecular sieving metallosilicate which comprises:(A) providing an aqueous dispersion of colloidal particles comprising contiguous mixtures of silica and the oxide of a transition metal selected from the group consisting of Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co. Ni, Zn, Zr, Y or a mixture of two or more of said metals;(B) mixing an effective amount of a mineralizing agent and/or synthesis directing agent with said dispersion to form a gel; and(C) maintaining said gel at a temperature of 80°C to 300°C for an effective period of time to provide said metallosilicate.
